Samsung Galaxy S Since there isn't a thread for this specific phone yet...I thought I'd make one! Is there a solid confirmation as to whether or not Rogers will get this specific phone yet? (if there is a "mostly yes", I will be returning my X10 and waiting) Also... what are your thoughts on the thing? |
You might get screwed over for Android updates. But if you don't care about that its one damn fast phone with super amoled and better multitouch screen than any other android phone on the market. |
yes rogers is getting it |

In my experience, Samsung makes fantastic hardware, but shit software. Luckily with Android you can just turn off/remove all their shit, and run one of the great launchers that are out there. |

well it's been rooted already, so I just thought that custom ROMs will just be a matter of time, no - then no more shit with samsung software |
As long as there's a good dev community releasing rom's then it should be ok. Their first android phones did not and therefore still stuck at 1.5/1.6 |
You don't need to root it or install a custom rom. Just disable touchwiz and install something like LauncherPro or whatever it's called. |
I just called Rogers - They will take my phone back and transfer my Hardware upgrade "credit" to whenever the Galaxy is released |
I think that would be a very good idea. The X10 is kind of shitty. I am almost certain the Samsung would be better in every way. |
The Samsung looks to be a pretty good phone. Much better than the X8 that Sony Ericsson is putting out. |
all three of the big three are going to get a verison of the Galaxy S definetely better than the x10 got to play with the phone when Samsung had their launch "party" Very sweet phone. |
The only thing that I would miss on the x10 is the design...maybe its just me but I actually think its the prettiest phone on the market today Posted via RS Mobile |
even though I hate to admit it, Galaxy S > Nexus one > X10. If I knew Rogers was getting GS then I would have waited instead of getting my X10. The only thing that worries me is the dev community on the GS. |
IMO Sony Ericsson could have done extremely well with the phone, and it could have been the ultimate in Android phones - 8.1MP camera, fast processor, sleek looks etc... But they blew it, again they opted to finding the cheapest solution possible to the phone by using the cheapest materials in a High-End phone. |
Releasing it with an outdated android 1.6 didn't help either. |
I wish all android phones came with an option to run stock android, and updates would be made available right away since you wouldn't have to wait for them to release versions for sense ui or motoblur etc... Posted via RS Mobile |
Costco down in the states had a promo for $250 USD to pick up a Galaxy S/Vibrant.... but it ended a week ago fuk. Now back up to $479. you can just go down and buy one now if you want. AWS band though i believe as it's through tmobile. |
Cool, another good Wind phone  |
Looks like ROM development is on it's way for the Galaxy S. Some Italian team got 2.2 Froyo up and running  (well, got the samsung leak working at least) |
It's available at AT&T now. Samsung Captivate. Saw it on ebay for around 450. Not bad at all considering the specs of the phone. |
Been using the Galaxy S for almost a week now... its screen quality and processing power is phenomenal... The built-in 16GB is really good enough so i see little reason to buy an extra microSD for it. Only bad thing is, phone feels really plastic and makes you feel like you need to be really careful not to break it. WOnder if I should sell the phone though, thsi phone is too powerful for me~>.< |
how much selling for and where buy from!!! lol, i know i left out a couple of words, thanks grammar nazi's |

Built in 16GB with 8GB SD on it, got an extra battery and charging dock as well... phone unlocked. I heard the locals only get 8GB versions? |
