zwilling.ca has a sitewide 50% sale off again, though most of the miyabi knives are sold out.

Currently have a crappy Berghoff set that was gifted to me as used, lol (don't ask). The knives suck, even when sharpened.

Can anyone recommend me a suitable replacement set?

Wow, that's hilarious. Same here! I received it three months ago, tried it out, had them sharpened at a few places, and they still suck ass!

If you like western style/ made I would say Henkel or woustoff (sp?) if you can I would suggest going into a knife shop and testing out how they feel in your hand.

I like globals for my daily worker, but I know a lot of people don’t like how they feel in their hand

I sharpen mine at Sharpening House on west 7th. Razor sharp. Around $8 with tax per knife.

Anyone can recommend a decent Yanagiba? Not looking to spend too much around 200-300.

Nice, looks like a yuki. Did you get a ceramic honing rod for it?

This is the best price I've seen for the 3 piece set.

This thread put Global knives on my radar and there’s a 7 piece set for $300 off at the Bay: https://www.thebay.com/product/globa...0_color=SILVER

According to RFD the Bay once had them as low as $238. Not sure they’ll go that low again.. do I pull the trigger at $400?

I don't know if these are the same exact knives, but:
https://www.costco.ca/global-synergy...100508758.html

The set @ The Bay is the "Ikasu" whereas the Costco set is the "Synergy." I'm hoping someone on here can confirm whether they are different or the same. The only real difference I can see is the knife blocks themselves. Otherwise, I cannot see any obvious visual difference, or note any technical differences (i.e. forging / fluting etc.)

I may get just the chef's knife and the santoku set @ Costco for $149 since I don't really need the other knives (but damn, they look nice.)

https://www.costco.ca/global-2-piece...100575415.html

Edit: @ punkwax - The Bay has a 10% off online-only coupon right now and it says it's "today only" (whatever that means, and as of this post, and keep in mind I am in Toronto) - Use coupon code THANKS to bring your Global knife set down to $359.99 + tax. I'm ordering one now!

My Globals arrived today. Damn they’re sharp. Look good on display in the kitchen as well.

I don’t mind the hand feel but understand why some might. Good thing I have a nice heavy Wusthof for jobs when I want to feel something a little more substantial.

It’s only day one but they helped make easy work of dinner/prep tonight. Solid first impressions

Thanks for the follow up.

Mine are still in the box the Bay shipped the knives in.
