I work with a small animal rescue. Please fix your rabbit both to avoid more litters and also because female rabbits are extremely prone to developing uterine cancer and ovarian cysts if they're not fixed. Males should be fixed to avoid aggression and unpleasent behaviors later on in life as well.
If anyone is interested in a bunny and OP has no more, please see The Small Animal Rescue Society of BC or your local SPCA.

@iRomey-
We named ours Kaito. He's very active and sometimes does this super dodge jump where he jumps and changes the direction of his jump halfway. Find it difficult training him though with simple tricks like standing up. =/

^ No idea! on the 19th they'll be 4 months old, so it's a good time now to get em spayed/neutered. I don't know where to go do it!

I spayed the mother. It was almost $200 after verything at the Cambie animal hospital. Suggestion: If you're not too worried about your rabbit, don't get the meds - they're only for pain reduction. IT was like $45 just for a small bottle.
Also, if anyone still wants some, my neighbor has three more babies to give away (by the same father, different mother).

Sorry for the noob question. | They aren't too hard to maintain. To start, you need a cage and a litter box, which can vary in prices, but to maintain them per month, so far it's been very cheap.
Small bag of hay - $10 Lasts a week or so. You can find places that sell the hay in bulk for cheap.
Carefresh (for the litter box) - $20-30. A large bag Lasts a couple of weeks.
Bunnies have special unscented shampoo to wash them with, but we end up just using normal shampoo that isn't overly scented and bathe the bunny while we shower sometimes.

Actually, they are really easy to maintain. They're kind of like cats. They like to be clean and will take care of themselves pretty well. Just have to water, feed and change their litterbox. a big bag of wood chips ($15 from walmar) for us lasts like months.

Just a caveat:
If a bunny is your first pet- they aren't as easy as you think. They are pretty delicate, and unlike dogs/cats they aren't covered with insurance. To draw from experience, a mini-lop that my girlfriend and I adopted got sick (gastric statis) and it costs around 400 for out-care (over 1.5k for in-care at the hospital), so please be prepared before adopting because they can be expensive. If you don't have that much saved up for it, be prepared to put your bunny down. We chose to pay for it, and haven't regretted it at all.
That being said- adopting our bunny was one of the most amazing things we've done. Our rabbit (Lillypad) has a bit of an attitude, but always wants to be around us. She got BIG (she isn't a mini-lop anymore ). She is healthy and the funniest bunny I've ever met.
Like people mentioned, they potty train themselves. They also clean themselves so there's really no need to wash them. To clip their nails, it's depends from rabbit to rabbit- but ours hates it. We have to hold her and do it quickly before she starts kicking. You just have to have lots of TIMOTHY hay, food, a large cage/enclosure, and water. Just some costs:
Enclosure - $40-$100 (I got a 2x3x4ft cage off craigslist for $40)
Bedding - Woodstove pellets (get them from Rona- 6-8 bucks a HUGE bag. Lasts just under a month)
Food- Rabbit pellets - $10 for a large bag; lasts a while
Others: They should have a large space to run around- they can be lethargic and annoyed if they don't get exercise.
If you're really serious about a rabbit (or any pet), just make a really informed decision. Like any pet rabbits can be tons of work, but the rewards really outweigh it if you put in the time. Adopting from the SPCA cost $60 2 years ago, so not sure what it is now. Quote: |
