Lawl, okay, so I know this doesn't really have much to do with my topic, but I thought it was amusing. I had my first lesson last night, my driving instructor has decided that "L" drivers, should always drive below the speed limit on their test (he specifically said 40-45km/hr). His reason? It might "scare" the examiner if I drive at the speed limit. Please tell me not all driving instructors think like this? That would just cause more problems than need be.

He is definitely wrong on that one. You MUST stay at 50 during a 50 zone, 60 during a 60 zone. Make sure you remember what areas are 50 and what are 60.

Going over the speed limit in the specific location can deduct you points. Look out for steep hills and keep your speed

Good luck

should be between 45 to 50...40 is way too slow...I'd stay around 47 just to give yourself a little room for error or if you need to speed up to switch lanes..

some instructors don't mind a little over 50 when you need to..but there are a few in richmond branch that are super picky abt it

OH...just remembered...if you've been at the icbc in richmond...if you go out the exit to minoru...just rmb its 2 shoulder checks..not one..and you have to put on the right turn signal twice...cos technically its one right turn out back to the straightaway..and immediately shoulder check for the right turn out to minoru..

i've seen ppl fail cos they thought it was one big turn..

i stayed 45 during my roadtest in richmond. the whole time, unless in a school zone. i don't think i went to a place which was 60. But i wouldn't go over the limit on a test regardless.

If you have an asshole examiner, he could fail you on the basis of dangerous driving on the spot.

going too slow can fail you, going to fast can fail you. stay between 45-55 in a 50 zone. most preferably 50.

As I said, I was looking for SPECIFIC information on RICHMOND.

And no, I didn't pass. Failed for not shoulder checking while parking and forgetting my 360 checks.

You'll pass on your next try.

Those 360 checks are definitely a must, along with exaggerating a shoulder check.

Urgent: I forgot but is there 3 point turns, parallel parking, and hazard perception in the class 7 road test? Just general driving and parking?
A 360 is when reversing? So left mirror, shoulder check left, rear view mirror, shoulder check right, right mirror. Then reverse?
What if you do this before parking, then you drive forward a bit, then do you have to do a 360 again when you continue reversing into the stall?

I didn't have to do it on my test either.

But it was in the handbook and my instructor made me to it countless times.

A 360 is when you should know all your surroundings so yes, generally when you're reversing.

From what I remember I shifted into Reverse, Left Mirror, Rearview Mirror, Right Mirror, Shoulder Check Left, then Shoulder checked right, looked back, and reversed.

While reversing be sure to scan the front every 2 to 3 seconds or so.

360 degree is as long as you know your surroundings, so I don't think the orders matter too much as long as you follow through with all of them.

Yes, if you're reverse stall parking, 360 degree check again.

if you take no.4 road route watch for play grounds there is one sign 1/2 blocked off by a branch near odlin. One mistake I made on my N test was when you and turning left on a 3 lane road ur allowed to tilt ur wheel left a little waiting for traffic(thats what i did) but the instructor said at the end of the test when you tilt it remember to tilt it back straight because if someone was to rear end u, youd go straight instead of into the traffic(bunch of bs really) and just relax its a piece of cake its harder to actually fail then to pass unless of course your a complete moron, youll do fine oh and remember to stop for 2 seconds at stop signs

Somebody obviously didn't read the whole thread...

OP failed... so I guess you just kind of called him a "complete moron", huh?

Her, actually And if he thinks I'm a moron, oh well. No skin off my nose I don't know him.

Oh, I also didn't have to do a 3 point turn. He made me pull into a residential area with lots of driveways, so I was expecting him to ask me to do the 3pt. He asked me to pretend to be parking downhill. I botched that completely, forgot to signal and shoulder/360 check (didn't even occur to me as I was already parked). No u-turns as well, even though it's on the test sheet.
