thinking to get the iskin, anyone got one

LsquareD 01-09-2011 01:35 PM

Got rid of my torch and got the 9780. I'm loving it right now but I do miss the big screen on the torch haha. Oh well, it was worth the change.

I ordered the Seidio Innocase II case online. Hope I get it soon.

Which firmware are you guys running on?

359. It's still buggy but better than the factory loaded 285. There are some build quality issues with the 9780 seems the biggest one is the double keypress (repeating letters) so make sure the keyboard is working flawlessly otherwise exchange it if you can.

Best case for the 9700/9780 by far

ShyGuy 01-17-2011 11:04 AM

So why is everyone making the switch from 9800 to 9780?

I currently have a 9700 OS6 and I'm debating whether or not its worth it to make the switch to either of these phones.

Gh0stRider 01-17-2011 11:56 AM

not worth it from a 9700. wait for the new bb to come out this year.

!Yaminashi 01-17-2011 12:03 PM

^If you have some extra cash and you're able to get a decent amount for your 9700 I'd say its worth the switch, autofocus in video mode on the 9780 was a huge plus for me

blkgsr 01-17-2011 01:25 PM

what are the main reasons to go with the 9780 vs the 9800??

depends on if you like candybar style VS slider phone
also depends on if you like touch screen or not
basically comes down to personal preference, if you want the bigger screen on the 9800 or not
other than physically, it's pretty much the same OS and such

blkgsr 01-17-2011 01:41 PM

ya i'm aware the hardware is the same

was more looking for if the torch is a pain to type on etc

tripleA 01-17-2011 03:49 PM

I just got my 9780 last week, and I haven't been able to receive txt msges. I can send, but not receive, anyone else have/had this problem? I tried putting sim in a different phone and I can receive txt, so its not my service provider's problem. Any input? I'm with fido btw

Try heading over to crackberry.com, if anybody will give you an in depth answer that you're seeking, its them

When the phone is double inputting keyboard entries when you only hit the selected key once.

Some 9780s don't have this problem

mb_ 01-19-2011 04:34 AM

According to some people on Crackberry, its apparently a hardware issue and is common with phones that are made in MEXICO4. Hopefully it's not, mine is from MEXICO4 and it happens to me as well. Almost wiped out my device cause of it -_-

Feels like a bold 9000 which I like but not as bulky. The case itself is awesome, dropped it once while getting out of the car and only had to clean dirt off of it.
