Nokia N9

Runs on MeeGo (Maemo + Moblin)

http://mynokiablog.files.wordpress.c...pg?w=600&h=450

Supposedly it isn't going to be announced until Nokia World this year as the phone is supposed to get released by the end of December

there's been leaks and rumors for the last couple months but anyway

some have remarked on the similarities with a macbook

No real specs yet supposed an 8mpx camera (nokia n8 will remain the camera king)

this is the software running

Leaked supposed additional specs but there's a lot of doubt behind these "specs" since the bluetooth is olld even the n8 is using bt3.0 and nokia has said they'd use an ARM chip for their Meego phones until Intel sorts out the power consumption of their chips

A tipster on the NokNok site gave some information for the specs for Nokia’s monster running Meego:

* 4 inch OLED screen (resolution of 800 x 480 pixels)
* 1 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon QSD8250 processor
* 512 MB of RAM
* 1 GB of system storage
* 64 GB internal memory
* 720p HD video recording (8mpx camera)
* 802.11 b/g/n, HSPA+
* A-GPS
* Bluetooth 2.1

looks dopee. too bad its not unibody casing like macbook

hongy 08-19-2010 07:22 PM

Would a unibody case make the phone's battery non replaceable?

Used to be a nokia fan all the way up to the N95, after that android took over.

nope. the htc legend has a unibody casing. they designed it so the bottom can be opened to remove the battery.

the N900s Maemo is arguably better but most assuredly equal to android (supposedly the kernel is more alike to linux) and MeeGo though is going to be used in BMWs Mercedez' etc to run the in car navigation/software

the N8 is unibody they say you cant change the battery but there's two screws at the bottom/side (depending on orientation) you can unscrew and switch the battery but im not a fan of having to unscrew something to switch the battery

hmm i dont think it's unibody. they might have used aluminium for the body but they're all separate pieces

thats the n9 i was referring to the n8 :) (i know u were referring to the n9 guess i caused some confusion but i was just mentioning that the n8 is like the htc) :D

rJZx 08-20-2010 02:37 AM

I was crushed when i heard the N900 was coming out, cause i bought a new n97 prior to that and it was a bitch to sell. most buyers that came to see it said the OS looks too dated.

ae101 08-20-2010 10:43 AM

anyone think it looks like the iphone 4 or htc legend or the LG pop cuz i sort of think it does

StylinRed 08-20-2010 06:03 PM

looks nothing like the iphone4

looks like a macbook though... exactly ;) lol

but i guess since phones are just bar shaped now with nothing but a screen they end up looking similar

StylinRed 08-24-2010 12:04 AM

supposed spec leak

for a December release not bad the snapdragon is kind of old now though with the new processors coming out however nokia OS's aren't supposed to be processor heavy n900 would be an example as they should be very similar

but there's a lot of doubt behind these "specs" since the bluetooth is old even the n8 is using bt3.0 and Nokia has said they'd use an ARM chip for their Meego phones until Intel sorts out the power consumption of their chips

I still like my n900, but with the apps numbers lagging behind both iPhone and Android, Nokia needs something serious and something quick or that's the end of it. I am sad to say that N900 is pretty much my last Nokia unless they get are something competitiable soon.

Stop patching the Symbian it's broken, go full force with meego then they might still have chance.

jeff19 08-24-2010 10:45 AM

^ +1. If meego performs like they say it will, it could be the only chance of saving nokia from going under. Come on nokia, you were once the king of mobile phones! :(

ecsw 08-24-2010 10:54 AM

^ yes. it's sad that the only ready I am holding onto n900 is because of the 32GB + 16GB MicroSDHC memory it offers that I can play most divx without converting.

well ive been lurking a lot of blogs and it seems that developers actually find symbian to be a far better/wider range os than android so i dunno :/

i think the lag of the n97 and the old looking UI is what dragged their sales

which they're finally getting around to changing
