Travelling to Portland by Car

I plan to drive down to Portland during the upcoming long weekend. Any suggestions on where to find good deals on hotels? Plan to stay one night in Seattle and one night in Portland. Where are good places to shop/eat/sightsee in Portland?

TIA.

There are many Portland threads, search.

as for hotels, www.priceline.com or www.hotwire.com, use betterbidding.com to scope out the going prices.

Portland is only six hours, why would you stay in Seattle?

^ I got there in around a little less than five.

Either go really early in the morning, or after the rush which is around 7 - 12

^ What they said ... just head straight to Portland, why go shopping at Seattle/Washington when you are headed to Oregon where there is no tax, might as well buy everything there and spend 2 days ...

Start driving at 6pm, you will get to Portland around 11pm.

I have done 8pm, I got there at 2am, that's with a dinner break at 10pm.

driving at night is much better because you avoid the border lineups and fewer cars.
