Those seats are shit... I can't even pinpoint where the uncomfortableness is but I think it's somewhere in the mid to upper back

HonestTea 10-27-2010 04:02 PM

I think it's pretty much everywhere.. LOL

I hate these god damn seats with a passion. I was only able to nap 3 hours on my flight from YVR to HKG and my entire body cracked so loud when I stood up

looks comfier than my Bride seats haha

Has anyone done the flight to HK via AC? Or done a long haul flight with AC?

Just wondering how often meal and snack services are done.

HonestTea 11-05-2010 10:56 PM

Not sure about AC but for CX.

Snack services? Not sure if they have that but you can pretty much order drinks and noodles/peanuts/crackers/cookies etc anytime you want.

Meal...hmm...not too sure, I would say 3-4hrs for first meal and 5 for the next one?

Ch28 11-07-2010 01:36 PM

I'd fly long haul to HK with AC even if they didn't feed me cause the new seats in Cathay long haul flights to HK are absolutely horrible

anyone found deals for leaving around the end of jan?

bcedhk 11-30-2010 07:27 PM

got a question, hopefully a frequent flyer will know the answer.

Im going to Korea for 4 months, but wish to go see my relatives in HK a month before and after my trip to korea... Air China has a "super saver" fare that says maximum stay is 3 months, so will I need to pay a big fee to extend my time?

Cause i inputted my dates into air china's website and it gives me a total price that doesn't indicate any fees for staying longer than 3 months.

thanks.

flameboy54 12-13-2010 09:00 PM

If anyone's looking, I just booked with Air China for $802.65 return, taxes in, middle of March.

MT 12-18-2010 07:30 PM

Look for special deals in sites like kayak.com or orbitz.com. These sites look through hundreds of sites to find cheap deals on airfare.

Browny 12-28-2010 02:37 PM

air canada for late jan returning mid feb are at the most (right now) $1200 return... taxes included. Im sure i find it cheaper as well.

China eastern is cheap at $910 return with taxes included but Air Canada is direct and China Eastern goes through Shanghai.

Jan-feb is end of peak season.... go march its alot cheaper as its out of peak season and higher avail (example i can do China Eastern air for $802.21 taxes included for mid march time).

But as always book early otherwise it WILL go up

justYU 01-19-2011 01:06 PM

planning on going to HK from june to july. Any deals out there right now?

edit: Booked Air China flying June 2 coming back July 6 for about $820 taxes in

lowside67 01-19-2011 03:59 PM

Put me down in the fucking HATE Cathay's new seats camp. That flight from YVR - HKG - BKK was one of the worst of my life, those seats are AWFUL. Air Canada next time.

justYU 01-21-2011 01:32 PM

anyone have any experience flying with Air China from Vancouver to Hong Kong (connecting Beijing) ?

!Kodamu 01-21-2011 06:00 PM

air china uses the old style seats. No ac power so bring an extra battery for ur notebook.

Other then that I really have no complaints for $806 tax in. Airplane food sucks on all carriers even private planes so its all the same.

Question:

Is it possible to go from YVR to HNL to HKG and HKG to YVR.

I want to do hawaii and hong kong in May... But don't know if that's possible. From what I see it seems like I have to fly back to vancouver after hawaii to catch the plane to hk. Tips?

I would highly doubt it. There will likely be a transfer in LAX or YVR.

Yea, that's what expedia results says. But it's retarded... flying east to HNL, and fly BACKWARDS to the West Coast so I can get to HK :failed:

However, there are flights flying out of Honolulu to Tokyo, Seoul, Manila, Shanghai, Beijing. Just no HK... but those are $1000+ ONE WAY, plus another $400 or so to get to HK.

If you guys have any other experience, please share. I am going to send my plans to my HK travel agent and see what she says.

Last resort would be... YVR to HNL roundtrip ($550 via Westjet) and YVR to HKG roundtrip ($1000 via CA)

I really like EVA Airlines. YVR -> Taiwan INTL -> HKG. The seats are MUCH better than Cathay's and the service is much better. They also have really cute flight attendants.

What kind of private planes have you been on?

The one my uncle was on served aberlone so I don't know...

Even when I flew Cathay Business they served lamb racks, and steaks....

Does EVA have good prices though? I remember when I was looking at their prices last year they seemed kind of expensive.

HonestTea 01-23-2011 07:15 PM

Any recommendations for hotels/apartments/hostels for 2-3 week stay in HK? Ideal for 3 people...

are there anything that is somewhat equivalent to priceline or hotwire?

Butterfly on Wellington. It's located in the Central District so perfect for partying cause it's 5 mins from LKF and SoHo.

TRDood 02-02-2011 12:56 AM

OHLY FUCK I JUST FOUND OUT THAT I CAN PRICELINE HONG KONG HOTELS? LOLOLOL!
