However, there are flights flying out of Honolulu to Tokyo, Seoul, Manila, Shanghai, Beijing. Just no HK... but those are $1000+ ONE WAY, plus another $400 or so to get to HK.

If you guys have any other experience, please share. I am going to send my plans to my HK travel agent and see what she says.

Last resort would be... YVR to HNL roundtrip ($550 via Westjet) and YVR to HKG roundtrip ($1000 via CA)
This is very possible!! The is no direct flights but I can easily get the Vancouver to Honolulu then onto Honk Kong via Tokyo then return to Vancouver as one ticket. This is where talking to an agent helps.... we know the tricks (yes i am one).

both Air Canada and Westjet have seat sales on very random dates. No one knows when they will happen exactly you just get lucky.

China Airlines has some good deals. For the return flight if you know your way around China it's a lot cheaper to go into mainland to Guangzhou and fly back to Vancouver from there.

Depending on what passport you are holding. If you are on a Canadian passport, you have up to 90 days as a tourist. You can however do a trip over to Macau or China to reset this and stay another 90 days. Be wary though, if you do this a few times, HK immigration will catch on and might not let you back in HK as this happens quite a bit especially with people from SE Asia.
