that is a good price. I think that will be the lowest, CX won't be having any sales coming up, best bet is to buy the AC one.

Yea. It's a good price and I might snag it. Its the cheapest out of everyone. The only thing holding me back is accommodation. Hotels are fucking expensive!! Anyone got any suggestions?

just another heads up for those looking to book a flight on CX. CX has another fuel surcharge increase coming May 1.

Will the fuel surcharge still tack on if you book before May 1 but depart in June?

Base on when you book. Not departure.

Just for all you guys, the AC prices I said a couple posts up have alraedy increase 200-300 $ some even increased double. I booked mine and got it at 1048 and 30-60 min later it went to 1280 so if you are looking to book, better hurry!

Gf's parents are looking to fly from Dec 23 to Jan 8 and the cheapest I've found so far is just under $1900 per on CheapAir for CX. Looking at the PDF posted above for the upcoming fuel surcharges, I'm assuming YVR -> HKG would be "long haul" and an 1164HKD increase? Damn...

HonestTea 04-28-2012 06:46 PM

WTF It's an 1164 HKD?!!

FUCK!!!!!

I just flew with CX on economy and sadly the old econ seats are still there, just as torturific as ever. They're supposed to be replacing those econ seats with something more comfy (I'm not talking about premium economy) -- but they've been really slow in bringing it in. CX assured me I would get the new seats, but that wasn't the case at all and I wasn't happy about that.

As painful as the slouch is, the cushion is my main issue. The back of it is raised so it feels like there's a metal bar right on your base spine. A literal pain in the ass. I've taken to bringing a cushion onboard with me (and I'm not the only one). You can't use their pillows - it's just too small.

Also a minor nitpick but I hate how you have to lower the table to get access to the AC plug. And no USB? Really?

The food has taken a massive nosedive. It's still edible for the most part, but on my way back, they served me what essentially was chicken chow mein from Fortune Wok in the mall. I ate 2 bites and couldn't get further. Total salt bomb.

That being said, service quality is still top notch, and you can't argue with free booze in economy (I hit up the Johnnie Walker and cognac to get over the pain)

Entertainment system was awesome. Insane amount of movies and TV (I didn't even check out the music and games).

Get a seat in the rear of the plane. It's actually pretty quiet back there on the 777 compared to the old 747, and your view (if window) isn't blocked by the wing. Plus most babies are in the front of the cabin, and you have easy access to the galley if you want snacks.
