Cheap flights to HK from Vancouver

Where do you guys look for cheap flights from Vancouver to HK(Round-trip) and which month(s) are usually the cheapest for booking flights from Vancouver to HK?

If you want to fly before November 30 or after January 1, Cathay Pacific has an economy class seat sale going right now that brings roundtrip flight to Hong Kong at $1009 + taxes.

I dont think this link will work but you can go to www.cathaypacific.com and click on "Offers" then "Economy Seat Sale"

^ That's what I'm using for my trip in Oct. It's about the same price as AC

obselete 08-29-2010 01:53 PM

wow that cathay pacific is a real good deal, i might have to look into it

HonestTea 08-29-2010 04:15 PM

That's a really good deal? :O I got my ticket this summer, at the end of June for $14xx taxed in with Cathay Pacific lol

Expresso 09-01-2010 10:50 AM

I remember reading a thread about Cathay's new seats being uncomfortable. Have you guys tried it out?

China Airlines is about ~$1000 as well with a stopover in Taiwan though.

i sat on them for my flight to hk this past summer and it was uncomfortable as hell. i'd never want to sit on them again, lol.

FUCK ME TOO! I flew with them this Summer as well and fuck!! were they ever uncomfortable, I thought I just wasn't use to them or something since I haven't been on a plane for 10 years.

bcrdukes 09-01-2010 06:33 PM

I don't fly with Cathay but if their new planes are made by Airbus, then yeah, they are hella uncomfortable and not worth it for a 12 hour flight or whatever it is. :lol

Ch28 09-01-2010 07:04 PM

Is it seriously that bad?

I read some people complaining about them but I didn't think it was that bad. Anything I can bring to make the sleep (flying 2:45am flight) better?

SilveRx 09-01-2010 07:08 PM

if u dont mind changing flights

china eastern or something is usually lower rate then cathy/ac

Well, in my experience, it's pretty bad. Even a 3 hour flight from Seattle to Los Angeles on Virgin America's new fleet of Airbus planes are a pain in the ass (pun intended.) The seats are so stiff and upright, I'd much rather sit on a concrete block, nevermind a flight to Asia.

On long-haul flights, I usually knock myself out with some Gravol. I can't stand crying babies and whiney children. I'll go out of my way to do business with an airline with an updated Boeing fleet or for shorthaul, my favourite is the Embraer E90. :D

Ch28 09-01-2010 07:18 PM

Too late to change.

I already booked my flight with Cathay.

Will be on the 77A, 773 and 74A :o

Ya I flew on cathay to hk and thailand, was excited to try their new seats but it was super uncomfortable when trying to recline back to sleep. However their new business class was dope :D

i actually got the new AC deal, 1100 tax in Cathy was over 1250+
i bought two tickets and i saved well over 500 bucks.

screw the luggage limits, i'll pay for an extra luggage if i go over. (Cathy is usually more lenient)

If you are willing to fly to Taiwan first and then HK, you can save substantially on business class tickets to TPE compared to going straight to HK, then just an economy seat ex-TPE to HK. This has to be done through Cathay Pacific.

Also note, CX will be replacing their current bucket seats on long haul flights to the standard seats that can push back within a short time.

"This has to be done through Cathay Pacific." CX doesnt fly YVR to TPE tho. Do you mean take either BR or CI J/C class than switch CX or KA for Y/B class?

jing 10-23-2010 12:13 AM

Wow, just checked again and prices went up nearly $150 from what it was yesterday. $861 to $998

I hate these god damn seats with a passion. I was only able to nap 3 hours on my flight from YVR to HKG and my entire body cracked so loud when I stood up

bcrdukes 10-25-2010 02:16 AM

Ouch.

Expresso 10-25-2010 08:08 AM

Did Cathay not do any testing on this before they rolled it out lol. Seems more people hate it then love it.

urban.boi 10-26-2010 02:49 PM

Those seats looks pretty uncomfortable...I have yet to sit in one..
