If you want to fly before November 30 or after January 1, Cathay Pacific has an economy class seat sale going right now that brings roundtrip flight to Hong Kong at $1009 + taxes.

I dont think this link will work but you can go to www.cathaypacific.com and click on "Offers" then "Economy Seat Sale"

http://www.cathaypacific.com/cpa/en_...&WAemail=SALES

I remember reading a thread about Cathay's new seats being uncomfortable. Have you guys tried it out?

China Airlines is about ~$1000 as well with a stopover in Taiwan though.

I don't fly with Cathay but if their new planes are made by Airbus, then yeah, they are hella uncomfortable and not worth it for a 12 hour flight or whatever it is.

Is it seriously that bad?

I read some people complaining about them but I didn't think it was that bad. Anything I can bring to make the sleep (flying 2:45am flight) better?

Well, in my experience, it's pretty bad. Even a 3 hour flight from Seattle to Los Angeles on Virgin America's new fleet of Airbus planes are a pain in the ass (pun intended.) The seats are so stiff and upright, I'd much rather sit on a concrete block, nevermind a flight to Asia.

On long-haul flights, I usually knock myself out with some Gravol. I can't stand crying babies and whiney children. I'll go out of my way to do business with an airline with an updated Boeing fleet or for shorthaul, my favourite is the Embraer E90.

i actually got the new AC deal, 1100 tax in Cathy was over 1250+
i bought two tickets and i saved well over 500 bucks.

screw the luggage limits, i'll pay for an extra luggage if i go over. (Cathy is usually more lenient)

If you are willing to fly to Taiwan first and then HK, you can save substantially on business class tickets to TPE compared to going straight to HK, then just an economy seat ex-TPE to HK. This has to be done through Cathay Pacific.

Also note, CX will be replacing their current bucket seats on long haul flights to the standard seats that can push back within a short time.

"This has to be done through Cathay Pacific." CX doesnt fly YVR to TPE tho. Do you mean take either BR or CI J/C class than switch CX or KA for Y/B class?

I hate these god damn seats with a passion. I was only able to nap 3 hours on my flight from YVR to HKG and my entire body cracked so loud when I stood up

Did Cathay not do any testing on this before they rolled it out lol. Seems more people hate it then love it.
