Write Off?

I'm going to assume so... :(

It's my brother's car, btw. Just had it repainted last year as well...

replace rear fender and door, paint it badda bim badda boom

Lomac 08-26-2010 04:54 PM

The frustrating thing is that's what we did when he first bought the car. Found the car for dirt cheap, did a bunch of body work, replaced the door/hood/front bumper and had it painted. The ironic thing is that the original damage was in the exact same place (rear passenger quarter panel and passenger door).

However, it looks like the portion of the B-pillar that the door latches onto is bent pretty severely.

Rotary_Rage 08-26-2010 05:02 PM

yep thats a write off forsure

gilly 08-26-2010 05:03 PM

An F350 with a tow hook (or winch, my brother wasn't entirely clear on it) started pulling out of a parking spot as he drove by. Apparently the other driver admitted fault and tried to pay my brother off by first offering him $200 before going up to $1000. I told him he should have taken the $1000 offer and then gone through ICBC and make a claim. :lol

RRxtar 08-26-2010 07:22 PM

nah it just looks like the tire is abit low. fill with air and it should be ok

i dunno about that huge titanic gash in the side tho.

TypeRNammer 08-26-2010 10:38 PM

At least when the rear quarter gets replaced, you don't have to worry about the rusted wheel wells :p

Hondaracer 08-26-2010 10:46 PM

write-off for sure

an F350 backed into my old EG and slightly dented the rear quarter panel and pushed in the hatch trunk a little

ICBC didnt do a total write off, but i took the $1300 they offered me and handed over the car to ICBC because it was never going to pass air-care again

that damage is like 200% what mine was, and mine was like $400 away from being a total loss with minor bumps

!Tigger 08-26-2010 10:54 PM

damn.. good luck with icbc..

1exotic 08-26-2010 11:27 PM

it's only a civic, and considering the value, wite off for sure.

TRD Rs200 08-26-2010 11:30 PM

write off, or start parting it out?

Shun Izaki 08-27-2010 08:41 AM

sorry to see that, people are so careless.

Greenstoner 08-27-2010 10:15 AM

What is it with F350s? That's what hit me too.

Weather or not it's a write off is up to ICBC. I would suggest he get it assesses by an adjuster. If he's got no fault then he has nothing to loose.

hk20000 08-27-2010 12:52 PM

F350s are too damn big that's what's wrong with them.

Nah' i can drive one perfectly fine. The problem is people who don`t know how to drive bigger vehicles. If you think thats too big your jaw is going to drop if you ever decide to cross the bridge, lol.

He was probably offering him money because F350 insurance is already epicly high. Nice rims btw.

seekerbeta 08-27-2010 02:58 PM

lol, you parked it at mopac (or it looks like the parking lot at mopac) yes the car looks to be a write off.

My car is the silver Accord coupe beside the Civic. And it's parked at Mopac because that's where my brother works, and that's where the accident happened. ;)

I was joking with my brother that since the Civic is so low, the driver of the F350 probably couldn't see the car while looking over the hood of the truck. :lol

acrophobia 08-27-2010 04:10 PM

I had very similar damage to my eg (minus the gash) compliments of an F150. Sadly the car was written off.

it actually bottles my mind that car manufacturers dont make it 'easier to replace rear quarter pannels. they are very comon for accidents, but are so dificult to repare. any other part of the car (hood, fenders, bumpers, doors, hatches, trunks, etc) can be unbolted and replaced. the quarters need to be cut and welded and at least 1/3rd of the car needs to be painted.

fliptuner 08-27-2010 05:33 PM

The only manufacturer that remember having bolt on rear quarters was Saturn and I don't know if they still build them that way. They take about 5 minutes to swap out.

As much as people hate them, they did have some innovative ideas built in.
