Andrea too. How good of an idea is it to ride in the back next to a big pile of zombies? They may be "dead" but more than one time, they've come back after people think they're "dead".
I was wondering about that too. When they kept showing her riding on the back of that truck so prominently, I thought one of the walkers would wake up and gnaw on her.

It was to show how desensitized they are to zombies now. Which is why they had that zombie arm fall out of the truck and Andrea picking it up like it was nothing.
She don't give a fuck

I'm going to have to rewatch the bar scene but there is something there that set off Rick's sensors.
There was more to it than just reaching for the gun unless you meant the part where they first showed off their guns.

Well their character would make anyone suspicious. They come trying to play it cool. The fat guy pissing in the bar and talking bout how he hasn't got ass for weeks. They pretend to be all buddy-buddy then ask if they can stay with them on the farm and all. Not to mention showing off his gun.
It's typical alpha male tactics I guess.
They didn't seem legit the second they walked in.

At first when they walked in and went "Son of a bitch...." or whatever it was, I thought it was Morgan [the black guy from season 1 who had the son and saved Rick] who said that.
Actually, by many of you reacting the way you are, I can see that the writers had the exact effect with that final scene as Kirkman intended in the comics. He's gotten there a little quicker than I thought he would. I'm almost sure I know exactly how the next scene plays out (the bar scene is not from the comics BTW).
Even though it isn't really a spoiler per se but I think I should probably spoiler it anyways. Those of you reading the comics will know what I'm on about. Posted via RS Mobile
I know but I'm not spoiling what was in the previous episode...I'm sort of discussing what is probably going to happen in the next episode or two.
Spoiler!
Alright, so there's something you've all sort of talked about but never focused on.
This is the first time Rick has killed someone...and two people. He did it without hesitation and he was prepared to do it at the beginning of the scene. Rick has never killed anyone except zombies, which he concluded were already dead by the end of the first episode so he wasn't actually killing anyone.
Broken record but again, this story is about exploring what humans would do given this extreme situation and how the zombie apocalypse would change us as people.
We're all looking for the reason Rick shot those two guys and I gotta tell you, watching it again, it's there but it's a split second. It's not obvious and given Rick's moral standing, shouldn't it be? Rick's also a cop...he's trained to defend himself but he shoots first and instead of shooting to disarm first, he shoots to kill. You can tell me that second guy, the fat one was a threat. A shot to the hand would've been easy but Rick was thinking kill from 10 minutes ago.
I think more than self defense, Rick saw a threat to the group. He saw that killing these two was for the greater good. Hell, even if they didn't attack Rick, Glen and Herschel in the bar and went on their merry way, they've learned that they have a secure farm and Rick knows they're part of a larger group. He made sure they were dead. The next scene in the show will be Herschel going nuts because Rick has killed LIVING men and Rick explaining how it was necessary.
Slight comic spoiler:
Spoiler!
Rick does this exact thing in the comic. Several times. At the jail, for one...the black prisoner...and at least twice more.
This is what has separated Rick from Shane thus far. Dale figures out that Shane killed Otis to save himself and that he belongs in this world. Shane was willing to kill to save himself and probably others. He has no attachment to Otis but would probably kill to protect others in the group. Now Rick is the same.
In the comics...if you're caught up with the latest chapter, go back and read chapter one. See how much different Rick is in the latest when he's the leader of the town compared to when he was just learning about the zombie apocalypse?
TL;DR: Rick kills a living person for the first time to protect the group. The next episode will be Herschel, Rick and probably Glen talking about how it's either wrong to kill living people (Herschel JUST came to accept killing zombies) or that it was necessary to protect the farm
If I were a betting man, I'd put money on that being the coming storyline, especially as we're probably moving on from the farm soon. If not, well, I don't know...I think that was probably close.
^Ya I knew exactly what you were talking about and I also didn't expect the new Rick to surface so soon. But hey, no complaints here! He's been soft all season long and I was actually getting a little annoyed of him.
The farm is much too important and he knows that. But my guess is that they are forced to leave it now because the other members of those outsiders will find it.

^^^from the scenes of next week it doesnt look like herschel has time to do any of that
and herschel felt the threat from these guys too so he was being elusive with his responses to them as well, so i doubt he'll go the route of "OMGWTFBBQ did you do"
and didnt he and rick give each other an acknowledging glance after the end of the scene?
^I agree. Hershel did not want any part of those guys. This scene was the only scene so far where he and Rick were on the exact same level. No arguing, no disapproval of Rick's existence, no differences in philosophy. Like I said, I hope this is where Hershel turns badass now.
I haven't seen the previews for next episode yet. Tempted but I want to go in fresh.

I swear Lori is not as fucking annoying in the comics. Somehow, because the writers made her retarded and that lady from Prison Break plays her...she's just retarded on the show.
