I feel like the producers are trying to show us that Rick's group of survivors has already passed into the realm of being fairly fucked up and ruthless.
There have been several examples so far in the show, such as Andrea jumping the fence just to kill some zombies, the people in Woodbury being blown away that a group of 10 could clear our the entire prison, Michonne holding back when they first encounter the swarm to see how they fight, and then Michonne demonstrating how battle hardened she is by spearing the guy in the cabin.
In the comics it kind of becomes a thing too, when Rick and his group meet other survivors they are often appalled at how violent they are.
Yes. I intend on buying the entire series when it's finished in book form (just like A Song of Ice and Fire) but for now, nope, download. I'm not a comic book collector. I'd rather have a complete series tome or set sitting on my bookshelf.
maybe a little but the show doesn't follow the comics exactly so there are still plenty of surprises.
the comics is the most addictive and best thing i've ever read. not once do you feel a sense of safety for the group. i finished 90 issues in days.
I started buying the individual comics and reading em. Then a realized how fast I was burning through them and at $15-20 a pop I was gonna bankrupt myself.
I've done my best to avoid any single thing written in this thread so far as I've been holding off on watching this show for a while. However, I finally had time to sit down and quickly burn through season 1 (not particularly hard, to be honest... 6 episodes? ). I'm soooo glad I decided to start watching this. I'll be the first to admit that while I love zombie-related things, the whole genre is getting hugely played out. However, the series is well written and has some great acting. I love the fact that background music is rare and that they simply use silence instead of dramatic "scary" music in order to make the viewer feel uncomfortable in different scenes.
Gonna pick up season 2 soon. I'm pretty sure I'll rip through that as well in less than a week...
