Haha. Well, I'm glad she's got it now.

I'm actually still practicing clutch control. I seem to be doing fine, but I'm 100% confident with my skills so I'm a little hesitant about taking it through an intersection.

Btw, does anyone know how they go about which bike a rider uses? I have a Ninja 250r so I wouldn't mind using that for the course.

bcrdukes 01-14-2011 05:27 PM

Typically by your size/height. If you already have a Ninja 250R, let your instructor know on the first day. You may or may not get to ride in the lot with a Ninja 250R though.

imbty 01-14-2011 07:54 PM

Why not, bcrdukes?

Btw, I meant not 100% confident lol

I believe the Ninja's are only for road rides. I don't know for sure that it's designated for the lot. But like I mentioned, speak to the instructor on the first day of class. :)

imbty 01-15-2011 12:23 AM

Ooh, that's what you meant.

Hmmm. That sucks. I was hoping to try and 'troubleshoot' with their Ninja 250r haha.

If I 'troubleshoot' with mine, I'm afraid I'll drop it/crash it haha

When I took the course, we rode the 250cc Sherpa's during the lot training, the Ninja's only came out during the day long road ride.

Funny story , when I was at PRS, I was one of the first people to pick a bike, and i picked the only one who had trouble shifting into neutral. Wish I had the ninja for the road rides though. I had trouble keeping up on the highway as I topped out at 94-95.

Jermyzy 01-15-2011 10:46 PM

Yeah. they have a separate batch of bikes for the parking lot, that you can drop lol. The ninja are only for the road rides.

Wow, that's it? My little scooter hits 90 km/h on a flat.

I'm super psyched to learn. Not really sure if I've got enough road experience and coordination to learn to ride, but I guess I'll find out soon enough.

imbty 01-16-2011 09:28 AM

What else do they use for the road?

Also, how fast do you have to be running when you do U-Turns for the MST?

Parking lot looks really small so I doubt it's more of 'how slow.' I'm confident in my U-Turns as long as I do it under 5 kp/h lol

But I don't think that's gonna matter.. From the looks of it, I can't do my MST through ICBC anytime soon due to weather and lack of supervisor to get there o.O

Its as slow as you want to.
Its your bikes full lock turn plus 1.5 meters.

imbty 01-16-2011 11:30 AM

I don't think I even turn my handlebars all the way to U-Turn.

Hmmm. I'm really confident in my left U-Turns but haven't really done a lot of right ones. Would this matter?

I know they take out the Kawasaki Sherpa, Honda Rebel, Suzuki Marauder, Kawasaki Ninja 250, Suzuki GS500 and I believe that's it. I may be wrong.

You go as slow and as safe as possible. Speed is not a factor. Skill, control, and safety are. The only time you should be concerned about speed is watching out for the speed limits on the road and on the highways.

Their parking lot is quite big, in my opinion. Most PRS grads would agree.

For those of you who are sitting on the fence :)

MK-EK 01-17-2011 05:57 PM

any news if there is going to be some sort of waiting list for classes?
i tried calling them today to ask but no one picked up the whole day!

oh yea i was wondering if anyone has heard of a new law passed in 2011 about cc limitations for new riders? I heard about this from someone saying that you have to start with 250cc then move your way up now. if anyone has any info on this, i'm really interested!

imbty 01-20-2011 08:58 AM

Yea, I hate to do this but I'm really anxious to know when we can do it.

I tried to book an appointment to take my MST on Tuesday. They said they can't book appointments for MST till March but still accepting walk ins.

I walk in on Wednesday and waited 4 hours and couldn't do it. They insisted I come everyday and "hope" someone misses their appointment. WTF?

It's a 15min test. It seemed like the Class 6 instructor was able to squeeze me in when I was there. Oh well.
