paying tuition with cheque

anybody knows if you write a cheque for the amount that's more than tuition to the school, do you get cash change/refund for it or would you have to re-write the cheque for the exact amount???

You should take your cheque book with you and fill in the amount when you get there. Most institutions won't give you change on a cheque.

the difference just remains in your account as credit, you'll have to fill out a form to have it back in cash etc.

Also, if you get any refund/cash back, they will mail you a T4 and that counts as your "income" from SFU. Yes, it's retarded but I didn't care because I am poor and makes no difference to my taxes.
