Sounded plausible to me, so I decided to stay with them.

lol what load of crap. You should of asked him then why it costs waaaay more to roam on roger's net work as a rogers subscriber than it does as a wind or mobilicity subscriber.

I think the set up is the same as with long distance phone cards. They are cheaper because they buy a line and pretty much max it out, so quality drops but because of volume they make $. Probably the same with cell networks, those who put more people on the same "bandwidth" will be cheaper but aren't as good quality.

I had:
150 daytime minutes
Unlimited regular eve and weekends
My 5 unlimited
6GB data
Voice mail, caller ID

It got changed to:
200 day time
Early evening start at 6pm for unlimited
2,500 SMS outgoing and unlimited incoming
6GB data stayed the same and voice and caller ID and my 5 stayed the same.

went from $84... to $61 taxes and fees all in.

How long did you have remaining on your plan? I'm currently paying around $80 after SAF and taxes, so very similar to your plan.

I went to the Mobilicity store at Cambie and Broadway today. They had said on Thursday that the Nexus One was in stock, but when I was there today, they said they were sold out, and that they would have it again in December. Has anyone else had luck finding a Nexus One in the lower mainland through Mobilicity? Or has anyone had any luck using a Samsung Vibrant? (I was reading on HF that there were a few issues for that phone with Mobilicity)

timtim44 11-19-2010 05:36 PM

God damn Nexus one

theres no issues. you have to set it to only be on 1700/2100 and not 1900 so it stays locked on the band and not go searching after you loose signal. had to do the same for wind.

Yeah mine was a retentions plan from a few years ago so now the deals are much better.

Kamui712 11-19-2010 08:44 PM

Just got off the phone with Fido CSR, the lady nicely said that Fido couldn't offer what Mobilicity was offering. It's only $120 for me to cancel my contract (2 year contracts ftw).

I'm going to a Mobilicity store tmr, if I like what their terms and conditions etc are I'm porting over!

Their phone line up doesn't bother me, I'll just buy a non-carrier phone anyways.

Yes. If it weren't for mobilicity, wind, etc, you think rogers would be competitive with their rates? Those guys bought out fido for this reason.

Going to check them out this wknd.

I thought of switching from Rogers to Moblicity, but the N8 seems to have connectivity issues. Though it seems to be resolved in Toronto and Ottawa. If all goes well next week, this'll be great news for N8 users.

Hello all - I have an update and my apologies in the delay. As mentioned, very exciting and busy week for Mobilicity. We looked into these issues after reading about them here. And our network team discovered a setting that needed to be updated in some base stations. We implemented the change last night in Toronto and Ottawa and things should be good now. Vancouver and Edmonton will be done later in the week. Please keep posting here if you have any further issues.

For those looking to switch over to Mobilicity and are looking for good phones to use with them, check out the reviews on the new MyTouch 4G. I ordered one from eBay and it should arrive sometime this week. It is the fastest Android handset to date, blowing others out of the water with onset testing, just look at the youtube tests. I'll post a more in-depth review for you guys if requested, once I receive my handset.
