Aside from the coverage outside their coverage area, you should be on a very reliable network. Of course there will still be slivers of non coverage here and there but they'll fill those in as ppl report them.

They're network is pretty solid.

How do i know? Because i work for them now lol.
Are they planning to expand their coverage in the Vancouver area?

i.e. rest of Richmond + Delta

Unless they're having high demand for it, they will not expand.

That coverage map is the bare minimum. Coverage actually extends past the boundary in areas, just not 100% all the time so they cant advertise it. Apparently great reception and coverage along the 91 which is not in the mapped coverage area. I haven't gotten my demo line yet but I signed up separately for the $40 launch deal before it ends tomorrow, so I haven't had the chance to test out the reception around the city yet. So far in richmond voice has been flawless, havent had a dropped call or be unable to make a call. Even when I had 0/5 bars on my vibrant in certain areas, I was still able to call no problem.

If you want coverage in delta, get everyone u knw that lives there to ask for service, then they'll throw up towers

I made the switch last week. I picked up the cheapest PDA/WIFI/3G phone : HTC Snap.
It works very well in Coquitlam and Vancouver (around 16th and Cambie). It works well in Kelowna (roaming), and I can get service on most parts of the Coquihalla Highway.

Wifi works well. 3G works well. I'm having a tough time trying to get Skype to load on this thing.

I'm hoping to pick up a Nexus one for the Samsung Vibrant (Galaxy S) sometime next Spring.

P.S. F*ck you bell

What phone are you on? I'm using it on my vibrant but the data connection cuts out alot. When it's working, it's really fast. Works fine on my coworkers bb. Kinda pita lol. I'll have to wait for my demo line phone to try it on the carrier phone though.

When it says " CDN Roaming " that means your phone isn't compatible right ? Just making sure, cause the sales rep I talked to had a pretty bad attitude and kept trying to persuade me to buy a new phone.

yes, unless it says "mobilicity" on it, it's not on our network. U'll be paying roaming charges.

What phone is it?

which store did u get it from? alot of the private dealers are idiots and selling to ppl without compatible phones. Mobi will crack down on them

You'll only be charged roaming if you have money in MyWallet.
Speaking of idiots, I don't recommend going to the Lansdowne location for information. But someone who posted above me seemed to have had a positive experience.

Does anyone know if it'll work in East Richmond (East of No.6 Road) even though it shows no coverage on their website?

Update:

I've been using Mobilicity for a little over a week now, reception is MUCH better after I flashed a new radio onto my phone (HD2). So I'm guessing my poor reception was due to some weird radio problem. Reception is still not as good as Rogers/Fido when your deep inside a building, but it's been adequate.

I found that my data connectivity was way better once I entered in all the Proxy settings. I know someone previously said not to because the internet would be slower, it's a little slower but at least I'm connected whenever I need it.

try that out and see how it works.

Even if I'm in the zone? I sometimes roam indoors. I made a call once roaming while still in the zone in Burnaby and it went through even though I had no money in mywallet.

my mom signed up today for the $30 plan with the crappy SE flip phone, we were at copa cafe (cambie and king ed'ish) and her signal was pretty inconsistent. Ranged from 1 bar to 3. My iphone 4 on rogers was pretty much full the entire time.

go to your settings and change your provider for ONLY mobilicity, if you don't have that option change your frequency selection to "WCDMA" that will prevent you from roaming onto other carriers.

the reason you are able to call while on roaming now is because they have free roaming within/near the coverage area to tweak the system. When they launched in Toronto, as they turned on national roaming, the other provider's towers were actually overtaking the signal of mobi's towers. So people ended up roaming while they were in the coverage area. They're tweaking the signal now to ensure this doesnt happen hence the free roaming and you being able to call now without money in my wallet. However it's a good idea to lock onto 1700/2100 only setting in ur phone when they start charging again.

Got myself the htc snap with the $40unli everything plan. took about 2 1/2 hrs to fully port my # over from fido. So far so good though wish they had accessories for the snap.

I was told by one of the sales rep that if you have the $40 unlimited everything plan then you wouldn't have to worry getting charged while on cdn roaming as it is included in the plan. Any truth to this?

^I would like confirmation on that as well!

I'm still trying to get Skype 3.0BETA to work on the stupid Snap.

Shazam and Garmin XT works brilliantly on the phone though, and *.flac files play pretty well too (it drains a lot of resources though).

yes and no...

he is correct saying you wont be charged roaming IF you dont have money in your My Wallet, the phone just wont work. But this is the case for all plans, not just the $40.

So you control how much you pay by putting or not putting in money to my wallet. If you dont have money in there, you wont get charged, but your phone wont work.
