I was their not so long ago. My favourite part is the Gili Islands, which is about an hour drive plus an hour boat ride. Its famous for its mushroom shakes, and its night life along with snorkeling as well. Their are only horse drawn carriages allowed as well and you can walk around the whole island in about 50 minutes.

In terms of Bali, your most likely going to stay in Kuta for a little which is the most famous place. Ubud is the new hip art community filled with new age yoga centers and a vibrant art scene. Their are some good night clubs in Kuta and you should definitely do some surfing lessons if you haven't tried before. I stayed at the Masa Inn which was an affordable option with three roommates.

I spent a whole month there last year, and wrote that roast pig thread.

Bali is a fucking amazing place. Make a stop in Lovina, and check out Damai Lovina Villa. Their restaurant is among the best in the world, worth a top Michelin 3 stars rating for sure, all for a price for a steak at the Keg.

Your questions are hard to answer without know what kind of traveller you are, your budget, your tolerance of discomfort, ie are you a princess? and your timeframe. If you want some photos be sure to check out page 2 of the thread MajinHurricane linked above.

I went to bali 2 months ago for a couple of days.

Ate at the same roast pig place as LiquidTurbo. Definitely recommend it.

We rented a car with tour guide who took us where we wanted to go and it was pretty cheap. Like 55 usd a day including fuel for 4ppl.

Thanks for the responses guys. I'm going with a group of 6 and we are planning to stay in Bali for 4 days. We wanna check out the nice scenery, beaches, and eat good food.

I would say our group will be able to tolerate some discomfort, however we do want to kind of spoil ourselves when we are there.

Get out of Kuta is my advice. Have dinner on the beach at Jimbaran beach. Visit Ulu Watu temple. Go stay in Nusa Dua if you want a full blown resort experience. Visit Ubud for some culture. That should fill up your time quite nicely. Too bad you don't have more time, you could go up north or even hike the volcano they have there. Another option is to visit the Gili islands. But in my opinion they are a little overrated.
