how come it looks like they are using duct tape to hold the car's panel together??? too much mythbuster?

Qmx323 09-03-2010 09:28 PM

Yeah its a test mule so "ugly" is a given, pretty sure when prod model comes out everyones gonna be all over it

TomBox_N 09-03-2010 10:11 PM

C'mon, u guys know better than to comment on a test mule that is heavily disguised. The whole point is to throw ppl off so u can be assured the end product will be totally different.

Looking past the hackness of it, I like the overall basic shape. Can't wait to see the real thing.

twitchyzero 09-04-2010 12:15 AM

calm down people
it's a test mule

Groot 09-04-2010 12:16 AM

you know what? the side and back looks like the old VW corrado LOL

I can't stand the gap between the hood and the bumper!! I'm SO not buying this car when it comes out!

what about the blocked intercooler!?

GDChoi 09-04-2010 12:11 PM

Imagine the stance it could pull off tho!
looks very slamable

optiblue 09-04-2010 03:38 PM

what car is that?

DiiCii 09-04-2010 03:55 PM

^ ft-86 STI:lol

thumper 09-04-2010 06:39 PM

why is it that we do not see running prototypes of the ft-86? maybe i missed them but all the ft-86's that i've seen are static displays at auto shows, none of which have ever had an open hood to show this new DI boxer engine... have they left it to subaru to do all the drivetrain development work using these fugly test mules?

^^ best looking sti imo

saveth 09-04-2010 10:27 PM

if this is the subaru version....i guess the toyota version will look better because i dont see it getting any worse. I really hope its a real coupe unlike the rx8.

DiiCii 09-04-2010 10:49 PM

^ there's 2 versions? i thought they both(subaru & toyota) collaborated to create this? :S
also, my guess on the "vw corrado" body style is probably related to the ae86. cause i've read from a while ago and forgot where, that toyota's making a "new ae86" with the help of subaru =P i could be wrong though, probably am:lol

tofu1413 09-05-2010 12:08 AM

i'd actually be HAPPIER if they did a production re run of those limited 22B impreza STi's...

screw the so called new (crappier) designs.

i mean back in the 90's Nissan USA did an in house re runs of datsun 240Z's... using new old stock parts to make quite a few 240Z's and sell them for 20k+ a pop..

Grim 09-05-2010 01:32 PM

are u fucking kidding me???? this is the ft86.... wtf...!?

Lomac 09-05-2010 02:04 PM

The car is you see here is heavily disguised, if not simply slapped together with body work out of the parts bin. I'll guarantee the car will look a lot different once it's officially revealed.

skyxx 09-05-2010 02:07 PM

I love how everyone is so gullible.

tofu1413 09-05-2010 03:36 PM

i remember when SLS was being developed..

first pic, all it was, was a chassis, and a box'ed body.

^hmmm...toyota's version looks better...the subaru's version reminds me of a pig in the front...and i dont like how the back resembles the impreza sedan in terms of tail light design.

felixy69 09-05-2010 11:15 PM

rx8 style rear door ??

Image under a RWD set up and 3000 lb chassis with a STi engine which is capable of 300 hp stock. I can see a 500+ hp FT86 in the near future !
