I don't understand how you can sit there at home and let this continue, any normal person would go speak to the guy face to face at this point. You might not know where he lives, but you know where his shop or his family's shop is. Go over there by yourself don't start no shit be cool and calm, try talking man to man either to him or if he's not there some of his family or whatever. Depending on how they respond and depending on what type of person you are, you can choose to escalate the situation and maybe come back with a few good friends. I only suggest that because I know first hand, the police can be useless most of the time in cases like this.

For example, we had an instance where one of our club members the shop owner was holding his car hostage, basically theft, and the cops wouldn't do jack shit, so he literally had to sneak into the shop and steal the car with his spare set of keys.
Anyway what I'm trying to tell you is to really exhaust your choices before going to the police, try anything and everything you can.

I understand at first you came on asking for advice on exactly who this guy is and what he's about, well now you've had the answer to that pages ago, it's time to literally get up off your ass and do something physically.... and by physically I mean other than using your fingers to type.

and lol @ 4chan.... what happened to being a man and doing things the way our fathers and grandfathers used to do it ? good old conflict resolution face to face in a mature way.

Yep that's the hard part. I know he is still in L.A. and what gym he's been working out at while he's been there but I don't have the time to go down there and wait around for him to show up.

I'm not just sitting here doing nothing. I can't discuss what else is going on plus even if I could he has his goons reading this thread and he probably is too.

Believe me I would love to do this the old fashioned way but I'll do it the right way first.

lol i agree. 4chan is not the most mature way to settle things in a situation like this, however it will provide pages of entertainment.

no I didn't mean fly to LA and try to find him, you know where his family's shop here in Vancouver is, and if you were able to get a friend of yours to drive past the shop and take a picture of the front entrance and the black RX-7 outside, but not go in and talk try to clear this shit up possibly ?

why not try that instead of just having the guy drive past and take a random pic, you'll get more results.

I got that pic off his Facebook. My friend called the shop and they said they've been there for 4 years and never heard of Concept Motors or Anthony Espinosa.

Supposedly he's in the process of moving his shop to Burnaby.

I did a active and historical records search for Concept Motors in the Province of BC and there is no such corporation or society registered with the BC Registrar. Looks like he's not covered by limited liability if you do sue him, or did you do business with him under another business name?

Looks like he also had a couple other civil suits as well in the system.

Nope, I did business with Concept Motors.

Interesting about the other civil suits.

Ouch... Good luck and escalate this shit ASAP, it doesn't look good for getting your car or your money at this point.

I would definitely get Revenue Canada into this. If he deposited $40k from you under the guise of doing business as Concept Motors, then he is asking for a world of audit and hurt from them. Can't fuck with the government when they think you are screwing them out of money.

I've already said in this thread, that picture was taken 2 years ago and it was NOT his shop.
He was just claiming it was his shop and those guys that do run that shop have already moved out just over a year ago.
He has scammed them also. He has been saying that he's in the process of moving his imaginary shop for over 2 years.

This.

Once the government gets word that someone's evaded taxes owed to them, they sit up and take notice. They will thoroughly fuck him lol.

To the OP:

You have a family, and you had 40K sitting in the bank to purchase a car, so that means you're doing something right. On the other hand, you've mentioned a couple of times that his "goons" are probably reading the site. Are you afraid that they'll take you (or your family) out if you escalate the case? There's something you're not telling us. Even if he used threats against you, the ball is in your court. If he threatens you (or unfortunately has one of his goons do something that could potentially harm you or your family), the better it is for your case because you'll have more evidence to take him down.

To me, 40K is a lot of money (particularly if it was cash and not credit) and if I were in your situation, I would have an attorney as well as the CRA on this guy's tail.

Thanks. I haven't been threatened and I'm not afraid of his goons, if he has any besides his wife's brothers. She isn't even his wife btw.

It will all come out in due time. Instead of concentrating on making it right with me he's driving around LA going to more "meetings" supposedly talking to potential clients to get them cars as well.

He said the attorney's name that is the owner of the car he's supposed to get for me is Justin Howard. There is no attorney in California with that name. If he really did give some Justin Howard my money and he hasn't gotten the car yet then maybe he got scammed as well. But I'm sure it's all BS.

Your advice is contradictory, no point in calling CRA until after this issue is resolved, seeing as the CRA freezing all his accounts and seizing any of his assets will certainly not help the OP get his money back in a timely fashion.

EDIT* BTW I heart this thread :)

Really the best thing you can do is just let him know that you are going to the police, and then do it. I'm sure the VPD will be more than happy to help, plus if he is already known to police (which from the sounds of things is fairly likely...) they will be happy to have one more reason to investigate him. You have nothing to lose by going to the police, so stop wasting time, just get that police report filled out and let the police take it from there. It's amazing what so much as one phone call from the police will do to get things going.

Good point. Taking that one off my list of action items for tomorrow.

... and what a fabulous pair of goons she has....

Seriously, why do you continue to give this guy the benefit of the doubt? It's time to get the police involved. At least file a report, if he does deliver than all is well and everyone is happy. Regardless, get the ball rolling with the authorities.

True. I will do this tomorrow.

A buddy of mine just told me when he was scammed the scammer stayed in touch with him until the very end as well. Sounded just like my situation.

Come on Anthony! Quit screwing around down there and make this right!

The_AK 09-13-2010 04:04 PM

Pretty sure the government can return custody of his child to the mother since this is a prime example of him being an unsuitable father. Especially if the police get involved.

0:44, the guy in the #25 jersey should be you.

Jgresch 09-13-2010 04:51 PM

^ I don't think that would solve much.... I really think the OP just wants a car, or his money back. 4chan would just mess up the guys life, I doubt after that he woudl give his money back anyways
