the rest of the shit taste like chlorine and added minerals, didnt know you need a palate for bottled water | Dasani is filtered tap water that has had the natural salts and minerals removed and then has a custom blend of salts and minerals put in. It's the only water I know that has an ingredients list on the bottle.

Monster Cable is a joke.
Princess Auto bought a surplus load of Monster Cable everythings a few years back. I rewired my entire home theater for like $80. at the time a 1m HDMI cable was $100 from FS.
and the age old arguement of tap vs bottled water... youd be surprized at how bad tap water is in some areas. Large city centers like Vancouver, and Kelowna, have fantastic water treatment facilities, but some areas do not. In Glenmore in Kelowna, our water is fucking garbage. you can see sedement on the bottom of the cup if you let it sit, and even after going thru a Britta filter, the water is still piss yellow. And id say 4 months out of the year we have a boil water advisory. and this is in one of the nicer and more modern areas of a very modern, 170,000 population city.
oh not to mention, didnt White Rock/Surrey just have a fuckin diareha water outbreak? I havent heard of that happening in an Aquafina bottle..

Coca-Cola recalls UK bottled water
BOTTLED WATER
Share this on:
Mixx Facebook Twitter Digg delicious reddit MySpace StumbleUpon LinkedIn
March 19, 2004
The Coca-Cola Company has recalled its entire Dasani range of bottled water in Britain after levels of bromate -- a derivative of bromine -- were found to exceed UK legal standards.
Britain's food quality watchdog, the Food Standards Agency (FSA), said long-term exposure to high levels of bromate can increase the risk of cancer -- though said there was no immediate risk to public health.
The recall is the second big embarrassment to Coca-Cola in the UK in the wake of the Dasani launch in Britain only weeks ago.
The announcement, described by Coca-Cola as a precautionary measure, is likely seriously to dent the company's push to break into the UK market for bottled water.
At the beginning of the month the Coca-Cola Co. was investigated by trading standards officials in Britain over the use of the word "pure" on bottles of Dasani, which sells for up to 95 pence ($1.74) for a 500 ml bottle in the UK. (Full story)
The FSA contacted the local authority covering Coca-Cola's headquarters in west London, asking it to look into whether the term breached labeling regulations.
There was criticism in the UK press when it emerged that the source for Dasani, which launched in the UK only last month, was tap water supplied to Coca-Cola's factory in southeast London -- though using tap water is not uncommon in the bottled water industry.
The recall of about 500,000 bottles of Dasani, which applies only to the British market, had already begun and would largely be completed within 24 hours, the company said in a statement.
The U.S. soft drinks giant said it had consulted the FSA which had confirmed there was "no immediate health or safety issue."
In its statement the company said: "To ensure that only products of the highest quality are provided to our consumers, Coca-Cola is voluntarily withdrawing all Dasani products currently in the marketplace in UK. The withdrawal began on Friday, 19 March 2004, and will be 80-85 per cent completed within 24 hours.
"Calcium is a legal requirement in all bottled water products in the UK, including Dasani. To deliver the required calcium, we add back calcium chloride into the product.
"Through detailed analysis, we discovered that our product did not meet our quality standards. Because of the high level of bromide contained in the calcium chloride, a derivate of bromide, bromate, was formed at a level that exceeded UK legal standards. This occurred during the ozonisation process we employ in manufacturing."

I normally think bottled water is a waste of money,
however if you're out and about and want something to drink other than pop, you can't get a glass of tap water out of a vending machine.

the rest of the shit taste like chlorine and added minerals, didnt know you need a palate for bottled water | No, you're very wrong there. Waters from different sources have different tastes dependent on what minerals are dissolved and at what percentages. Vancouver tap water tastes different from that of White Rock, Chilliwack (very nice, clean & smooth) and other municipalities. Dasani tastes different from Evian (too hard), Fiji (very smooth, but has a high arsenic content), Polar, etc. If you can't tell the difference, then you haven't developed a palate sensitive to water. It's like the differences between coffees, olive oils, salts, soy sauces, etc.
As a non-drinker, I can say all wine tastes the same (like shit) to me, but others tell me otherwise.

Theatres are not "primary food service establishments", the requirement for being protected under that whole "you're not allowed to bring outside food into a restaurant" rule. Because they provide the service of entertainment (a movie) they can't claim to be food service provider. There are no signs anymore that say "no outside food or drink allowed".
And if there are, I haven't seen them, nor have I been stopped going through the box office, getting my ticket checked, etc etc etc. Posted via RS Mobile | THIS. I bring in food to the theatres all the time. No need to hide it |

Soft drinks and bottled water are huge money-makers. I know 2L costs about $0.20 to produce. On sale cheapest i have seen was $.99.
All bottled water is not the same.
They mostly come out of municipal water sources but some have specific treatments done before bottling. In my travels I found Dasani was on the salty side, Aquafina pretty good all around, Nestle pure life and shoppers drug mart brand just garbage, Evian is meh.

I agree that different brand of water tastes differently. However, back in the days when water filter was not common, we just boil tap water. Water in Hong Kong is not the best I tell you but it didnt kill me or my parents. Even if u'r in places where water is not as clean, simply boiling it will make it safe. I guess ppl r too lazy to boil water nowadays.

Good list. Agree that Monster Cables would be a good addition.
Food/drinks at any concert/event where you are trapped is usually a cash grab. $8 beer etc.
I never spend money on food at the theatre and have had many an argument with girls who want popcorn lol
I bet most people here have brought their own food/drinks to the movies.

Basically 1/2 price for admission, regular popcorn, and regular drink.
I watched Avatar on a Tuesday, paid for 2 full admissions, and got 2 regular popcorns + drinks for free. If you do the math, that means 1 regular popcorn + drink = full 3D admission...
