| I never gotten a phone plan before. How do I get the best deal?
I have always used pay as you go on Fido. My new job requires me to text on my phone a lot and call a lot too but more text. I have been looking at the show your phone plan topic and I see some pretty good ones on there. I would like to stay with Fido because I want the same number and I've been with them for like 3 years now.
I know a lot of people do the retention plan thing or know people on the inside.
I don't want to spend more than $30 a month on my plan. I've looked at a lot of plans on the Fido site but comparing those to the ones I see in the topic, it sucks!

Well, if you want to go through retentions, it's best to have a plan with them and then contact them after a year or 2, then you get offers on plans.

It's tough to get those plans on a new line. If you're on Pay-As-You-Go, you might have a touch more luck--you can call *611 and tell them you'd like to go month-to-month, but are strongly considering switching to WIND/Bell/Telus because of specific plan/porting credit/yadda yadda, but I wouldn't hold out too much hope.
The more likely thing is that you'll have to stick it out for a few months on a contract on a vanilla plan, then renegotiate after a little while.

Can't you just port your number to another carrier? Chatr which is owned by Rogers have unlimited BC calling plans for $35 and unlimited Canada calling plans with unlimited text for $45 and that includes caller ID. If they have a data plan I would have switch already.

Go to Chatr, it's owned by Rogers/Fido and they pretty much have the same plans as Wind + stable reception.

^Thats a standard plan that Fido has on their website. You should just call Fido and tell them that you been using their prepaid for x amount of time, and that times has changed and you want to go on a monthly plan. If you want a really good deal, you have to be willing to commit to a 2 or 3 year contract.

| Chatr is prolly the best if you do not require the internet..
they can port over your number so it stays the same...
if your phone right now is Not unlock, then you need to get their phone.. so spend $10 or however much and get it unlocked.. shouldnt too expensive.
if you dont like the Rogers family, you can try Solo, which is part of Bell, they have some nice deals, but you would need to buy their phones, i do believe they offer sim cards now.... i would tell you to stay away from koodo/telus.. they sux...
