Try and dig up all your receipts, ICBC should cover it if you have proof.

They only cover things that have been "bolted" down. Bolted in quotes because it has to be secured using their approved method.

if its bolted down in ur car, its covered under car insurance.
if its not bolted down, eg clothes, cds, anything loose, its covered under home insurance (so if u live in a condo, its whatever house insurance u pay)
radar detectors are in the gray area, neither insurance will cover them.

no the idea is that they are suction cupped (is that a phrase?) to the car and not "bolted down"
hope it's not the fit that's got jacked up man sorry to hear.

because thats what icbc told me, and i clarified it with my house insurance when my car got broken into and everything including my school books were stolen. Quote:

and if you EVER get someone saying its not covered, laugh in their face and ask why tehy discriminate against radar detectors - remember, they're 100% legal to own and operate here
