Call me old skool but I was hoping they would keep something along the lines of the E71/E72 but I guess touch screen is the way they're heading.

Hmmm...are you sure? A lot of people claim that Sony Ericsson cameras were superior while Nokia cameras sucked.

I could be wrong. We'll have to let the SE fans chime in on this one.

doesn't matter how good it is, people will still buy iphone, no matter what.
it's like a girl ask you to add her on facebook, but you say "oh I use friendster", so odd.

iOS > Android > WM6.5 > Symbia > Bada

i put this in that computer thread discussion about the retina display but it seems to make more sense being in here

anyhow Nokia just announced their new displays use "ClearBlack"

and Endgadget decided to do a quick side by side

http://www.engadget.com/2010/09/14/n...-retina-fight/

using the Nokia E7 and Iphone 4 (the E7 has 640x360 on a 4" screen)

Quote:
Come on, you knew this post was coming. Here we have a prototype Nokia E7 and its new 4-inch, 640x360 pixel Clear Black Display pitted again the iPhone 4's 3.5-inch 960x640 pixel Retina display. To our eyes, the iPhone 4 display has a noticeable blue warmth and wasn't as vibrant or bright as the CBD. The CBD, however, did come across a bit oversatured (just look at those red "breaking news" bars), but hey, it's AMOLED. It certainly looks just as good as the Galaxy S' Super AMOLED. We'll have to see how the polarized layer on the CBD affects sunlight viewing. More on that later. Until then, play nice dear readers.

The Nokia C3 Budget Touch/Type

145Euros ($190CAD)

Quote:
The phone is a Quadband ready device and supports 3G/HSPA and Wi-Fi internet connectivity. It comes with Nokia messaging 3.0, the latest incarnation of Nokia's email, instant messaging and communities client offering Facebook and Twitter. On the imaging front, there is a 5 megapixel camera with flash at the rear. The C3 Touch and Type will come in Silver, Warm grey and Khaki Gold colours. The screen is not particularly large at just 2.4-inches but that is perfectly fine for a mid-range product. The C3 Touch and Type supports microSD memory cards for storage up to 32GB.

The C3 will probably sell well for the average user. A touchscreen phone under $200 is pretty rare. But for higher users the alternatives are much better...symbian just doesn't cut it anymore...
Hopefully the new nokia CEO has something awesome planned

there's actually been more symbian based smartphones sold this year than all the others combined according to Nokia they say they're selling on average 250,000 smartphones a day

Nokia is using MeeGo though with the Nokia N9

i doubt there's no developer support... considering symbian takes up such a major market share it would be stupid not to support them

and from what i've read from developers they say symbian is a more diverse os than say android/ios (part of that is probably due to the OS not being such a Hog on CPU/Memory/Battery than say Android)

granted i read these comments from developers posting on nokia centered sites

honestly, Nokia should just settle on ONE experience to present to the end user and just work from there....S40, S60 Symbian, and then Meego, and then some other in house OS. All these variants and different Os' don't help with the end customer experience.

Nokias down to 3 OS's

S40

S^3

MeeGo

(S^4 is coming next year and it seems like S^3 will take over S40, maybe)

And they're merging their UI across all platforms with QT so they'll appear the same in general
