Thanks for the sarcasm but it's big enough to do front end damage or worse if your car is low enough. Just letting everyone know. Posted via RS Mobile |
BAN THAT SARCASTIC FUCKER tips like these save a lot of cars |
Good thing is there's an active construction crew over there that'll probably move it. Bad thing is, one of their trucks probably dropped it there in the first place. |
K report accident...yes. report traffic yes. report potholes yes. Why the fuck would anyone report a rock on the road....im not blind and im not stupid...if theres ANYTHING on the road even a peice of cardboard i would swerve to pass it, its common sense anything that looks solid you swerve. Even if your merging onto a highway, people with lowered cars should pay even more attention to this type of shit, you dont need people posting it on a forum. BTW THERES NEWSPAPERS ALL OVER RIVER ROAD IN MAPLE RIDGE AVOID IT AS ITS VERY HAZARDOUS. :twirleye: |
^ why the fuck are you still talking |

You obviously wouldnt recognize the danger that comes with a lowered car because you're still at stock height. In some cases it isnt possible to swerve to miss things, there are other cars on the road, ppl on sidewalks, other things that you have to watch out for. If you see the rock last second what else can you do? For those of us that ARE lowered a large rock can damage lips, undercarriage, exhausts, maybe even dent rims. But thats ok, since its not a big deal we can just send you the bill, right? |
^ Im saying as a driver you have to be aware at all times, whats the chances of you having your blackberry out looking at the forums WHILE merging on the highway. Yes, it probably will cause more damage to a lowered vehicle and yes the 4x4 jokes never get old, your just stating one of many down points for lowered cars. My point is no one is blind and no one is stupid if you just passed a construction zone you should always assume that there are rocks on the road or other things lying around. If you dont drive like XTC-604 you should be fine because you would have a safe speed and you can always notice what the car infront of you is doing and what people around you are doing. However, the accidents and traffic and construction notices members post is great information for when your heading out, but this is just useless. |
Dude, I think you may have misunderstood the OP. Obviously he didnt whip out his blackberry the second it happened to post it to a bunch of strangers online. He most likely decided to give the rest of us a heads up when he ARRIVED at his destination. The 4x4 mention wasnt a joke, I was merely pointing out how ignorant your comment was. You're on a CAR ENTHUSIAST WEBSITE. To people on these boards this post is JUST as important as traffic or pothole threads |
Rocks on roads especially bigger ones, could damage some key things like the oil pan. A dent in the pan = bad oil pressure. Unless your running a dry sump system. Then no worries there :P |

In comparison, the rock was about the size of a cantalope (sp). It was right after the slight turn at the end and swerving out of the way would have caused me to lose control of my car possibly. The rock hit the bottom of my car a few times and I'm assuming there are probably a few dents down there now. Had I been any lower I wouldve cracked the front of my bumper. Posted via RS Mobile |

btw thanks for the heads up op. |
A cantalope? Were you driving any sort of lowered car? Pretty sure if you ran over a rock that big you'd have more than a "few dents" underneath your car... |
Small sized cantalope? Lol it was dark but the rock was definitely big enough to hit the bottom of my car a few times and had the possibility of causing more damage. It happened to scrape right under my bumper. I'm lucky my car isn't that low. Posted via RS Mobile |
Ok, I'll ask the obvious... which lane? :) If you weren't in such a hurry, you could have pulled over in a safe location... got out.. then moved the rock off the road so people who don't read RS also don't hit it. Then you could have saved us all this thread... |
