Yeah,
I've been waiting for the GSM version of the Evo or Incredible.
I'm don't really understand why HTC hasn't stepped it up with their varients. I doubt they are getting a huge kickback for exclusivity.
Samsung has certainly shown us that they you can do a multi-carrier, multi-varient hard launch.

We certainly weren't expecting it, but we can now confirm that the Desire HD announced yesterday lacks any 3G for use in North America thanks to the FCC filing that just hit today. Frequently, we don't know how HTC's internal product codes map to unreleased devices, but by pure happenstance we got a shot of the Desire HD's battery slot during our hands-on where we see that "PD98100" definitely lines up. What does this all mean? Well, it means that the EVO 4G seems poised to soldier on as HTC's only 4.3-inch Android option for Americans in the near term, though there have been plenty of situations in the past where they've snuck in a second model code with 850 / 1900 on board. We'll hold out hope, we suppose.

I am ok with the two cells. Nothing that really interests me anyhow. If the Z came with a 1Ghz proc, it's a maybe, but until Gingerbread comes out, I don't think my N1 is going anywhere.
What really interesting is the HTC Sense service they are coming up. I thought it's really a step up from Apple's Mobile Me... you can now virtually control your phone anywhere.

I've been waiting so impatiently for an gsm equivilant to the HTC Incredible or Evo, and now my hopes were raised, then snapped back to reality cause it sounds like that's not going to happen in the foreseeable future
wow wtf! why wouldnt the desire Z have a 1ghz processor?!?!
looks like I have to wait for a gsm droid 2 or something..
I too am waiting for the gsm droid 2... fell in love with it when I played with one in the states

because the 800mhz proc on the z is "optimized" says the press release (see engadget/gizmodo".
just because a phone has a faster processor doesn't mean it's faster to use. it's just like what computers went through in the 90s/early 2000s with intel and amd.

Looks like this is HTC's answer to the Nokia; Desire HD Vs Nokia N8 and the Desire Z vs. Nokia E7 even feature and build style they're very similar but not as good as the Nokia but naturally fans of Android and HTC will be all over it
i gotta say the HTCs looks hot (they always make some nice looking phones)
shame its not NA GSM and so Expensive (costs way more than the Nokias)
