Canadian Tire credit card

About a weeks ago I blindly signed up for Canadian Tire credit card, now today I got the card in the mail I did not call the 1-800 number to activate it, now my question is do I need to call them and tell them to cancel it?

No, do not call them to cancel it. Cut it up or leave it around the house but never cancel a credit card even if you don't need it, as it will have negative impact on your credit score.

Yeah that's what I was thinking as well I'm just going to cut it up into small pieces and throw it away thanks for the quick reply. This issue has been bugging me all day.

having multple credit cards, and more total credit $$ also makes it go down...

if you didn't activate it, it's probably not even counted yet though.

Quick question: what if the credit card you have has an annual fee? If you cut it up/don't use it, you still pay that fee. Any way around that?

can't you just call up and downgrade your credit card to a free one, using the same account? then cut it up.
