| Will Honda Canada honor the warranty on a new US Honda
I've did a quick search and found out that Honda Canada DOES NOT honor the warranty on US Honda (from 2006 thread).
I want to know if that is still the case, because I don't quite understand the wording on both the US and Canada Honda website.
How about Toyotas? I did a quick search and it showed that Toyota would honor the warranty.
Thanks!

negative as in no to honoring warranty on US Honda's right?
If I really intend on getting the car from the states, is third party warranty advisable?
Just to make sure, Toyota does honor the warranty, right? Do they make it a hassle to get it done?
Thanks

The ironic part is the Civics are built in eastern Canada and yet we get jewed with the higher price tag.

I've read that even if I got third-party warranty, I would still be better off than buying the car here.
The difference I'm looking at is roughly $3000 with everything in. Is that worth it to go with a 3rd party warranty?
I've never dealt with 3rd-party before, so any experiences will be great!
Thanks

and OP, warranty is up to you... most hondas won't need much warranty work so $3000 is probably not worth it, however do research on the model you are getting. The warranty on my Hyundai more than double paid for itself with work required....but it was a Hyundai

O rly? ^
Maybe 3 years ago when both cars were brand new..... here you go 2008 S2k Canada $26,000~ 2008 s2k USA $24-$25000 2008 s2k USA $23-26000 2008 s2k USA $24-26,000
I couldn't find any 2009's so I used 2008.... I figured the ones worth more would have more of a difference between usa/canada prices....
Don't forget to ad duty, inspection and all that jazz to the us models, plus no warranty. But I mean hey, at least he was close thinking you could save 15-20k....
Edit: and heres the 2007's from Canada Roughly $22-$24,000 minus the idiot asking 32k
And don't try to come back and say well when they were new you could save 15gs... cuz flagella clearly said if you buy an s2k you can save 15-20 grand.....

Thanks for the replies guys.
I should've been more clear on what I'm getting.
Right now, I'm looking at a 2010 Honda CR-V EX-L
With taxes and everything in, a US 2WD one goes for $31827 on the road.
A CAN 4WD equivalent (have to get it in order to get leather) goes for $35401 with cash incentive and everything.
So that's a difference of roughly $3574 right there. Generally, I agree that on Honda/Toyota, warranty is not very useful unless you get a lemon. But I also would like to be on the safe side, that's why I want to explore the option of getting a 3rd party warranty. Or not get a warranty at all. So I could use some help in the risk management area.
I also have to consider the value of my trade-in. My mom drives a 2004 Sienna right now. So I don't know whether I should try selling it on craigslist or trade-in at the dealership.

I think only Audi, Toyota and Lexus honours warranty on a US-import.. Benz and BMW are the biggest bitches (requiring new speedometer from the stealership, etc.. on top of losing your warranty) when it comes to importing

IMHO, you would save the most by importing a Subaru Outback (Subaru Canada will not honour the warranty.. you will have to pay for the repairs up front and then file for a return from Subaru USA)..

Honestly, buy it here.
$3574 is no pocket change, but it shouldn't stop you from getting a warranty, even with a reliable brand like Honda.
My moms 97 CR-V now has a slight knock only at 150,000k's and that's with proper maintenance, so you never know.

I'd say buy it here as well. Not only the warranty, also the resell vaule will make the difference back unless you are keeping the car for 10+ years...
Also it's 2wd vs 4wd......I still don't get why people would buy a SUV with 2wd...just for the height?

For 3k, just buy it locally. I could have saved 12K for the exact car that I wanted if I bought in the states. I'm still pissed that I didn't!

it's just over 3k, and that's not a comparable model. You're looking at a $2000 upgrade from 2WD to 4WD on LX, and EX models. so this is a $1200 difference in price. a warranty will cost you more than this on the car, so you're actually worse off buying the car in the US.
