| VITAMINS
Hi I have a question about vitamins...
So far on my research, ON makes good multivitamins.
If I were to buy multivitamins for a man and woman in their 50s, are ON multivitamins still good? OR are there better vitamins for people in their 50s?

Vitamins are pretty much all the same, just look at the contents, 1000 IU of something is 1000 IU no matter which brand it comes from...I mean unless you're taking something for post-menopausal women or something completely retarded and off, any multivitamin will do imo, and this is all imo because I'm obviously not a doctor, just my 2 cents for your consideration.
I use Centrum Protegra and just follow the dosage guidelines
Google the RDA for male/female in their 50's and see if the contents of the multivitamin meets the minimum requirement

^ wrong info there, sorry. For instance, 250mg of Magnesium Citrate is NOT the same as 250 mg of Magnesium Oxide, etc, etc, etc, etc
Some brands (like Centrum, and store brands) will stuff their vitamins with as much of the cheapest forms they can get, in order to appeal to the mass market. Taking them is like taking nothing at all, since most of it can't be absorbed anyway.

^Yeah I read that the tablet form doesn't fully digest, and you can't absorb it all. Would it be better to take a powdered form?

Even the form isn't necessarily an indicator. Tablets are the easiest to make cheaply, but there are good tablets

Which ones do you recommend?
Also I know it's not a vitamin but has anybody tried Progressive VegeGreens and Phytoberry?

What about fat soluble vitamins? I heard there could be an issue if there was too much of those taken

I think it depends on what vitamins you need and why you're taking them.
Vit A is the one to watch out for most of all as it's the one that is easiest to over consume and it's side effects for mild over consumption are often misdiagnosed as flu or other such illness. It's easy to meet your Vit A requirement through fortified dairy or eatting leafy greens and colored veggies, so generally you don't need it in a suppliment unless you're deficient in it or have an elevated need for it for what ever reason.

Anyone ever tried putting a Centrum into a water to see how long it'll take to dissolve?
I cut one in half and dropped it in a glass of water.
At the 30 minute mark, it was only ALMOST halfway dissolved. Keep it mind I had to cut it in half for this result, I have yet to try a full tablet of Centrum... my money is on that it won't dissolve before the amount of time the human body takes to digest.
It's a cool experiment to try... just prepare to be grossed out at how unnatural it smells.

^your stomach has its own acids and enzymes which can easily dissolve the tablet (have you ever shit out a vitamin tablet before?)
the only problem with vitamins is if your body will absorb it otherwise you literally piss it out that why when u take vitamins (ie optimen) your piss is neon
edit op i take orange triad if that answers your question at all
