Santa Barbara on Commercial Drive.
Mainly Organics.
Donald's Markets
Capers?

Oh yeah, Sweet Cherubim will definitely have it. The samosas there are pretty bomb too.

I've got this at home that was bought at one of those places. Also comes in a black container.

You can try Lee's Electronics. Call before you go. It's listed on their website.

I'm looking to convert some VHS tapes to DVD. I can purchase the software for a one-time fee (roughly around $70 and convert as many as I want), or pay someone to do it (they charge around $70/hour, they are really expensive).

I'm not sure how they do it, but anyone who's done it before, are the quality of the videos higher if I get someone to do it, or I can get the same result from just buying a software from electronic store?

Thanks.

its kind of a headache to do it yourself as the process is fairly slow, at least from when i did it

if you have a bunch of tapes to do id say buy the software, if its only one or two, costco usually has a sale on their services

Try YoYo Entertainment at 1st ave and Renfrew. I can't say for certain they have it but it may be worth a shot.

Otherwise, I found 1 torrent for it but no seeds =\

Quality is as good as what's on the tape. You can not improve the footage if footage sucks in the first place. Similar to if you is ugly, well, there's not much you can do. You can digitally enhance, but that would cost you more than most would be willing to pay.

As an alternative, you can go to London Drugs and buy a Toshiba VHS/DVD recorder and do it yourself. Hell, I have one at home and I burn PVR material (Asian movies/drama series) to DVD all the time for my mom. I have converted all my old home video's to DVD. All my old videos of my kids were deteriorating to the point they were disappearing. Once converted to digital, it's forever. The recorder goes on sale at LD for $149.00 every so often. I even hook up old VHS-C and Digital 8 tape player to the recorder and burn DVD's. It's basically one touch recording. Set it and forget it. It takes a bit of time later when you have to finalize and put titles on the disc and shit, but it's pretty simple. And no, I'm not going to do it for you, LOLOLOLOLOLOL.

Did the same route. Takes long to do if you have a bunch because its done in real-time. The up side is that you get to rewatch them all as they are being copied!

There shouldn't be any difference in quality (since it's based on the source, ie, the tape) between a VHS/DVD recorder and a VHS to DVD software done on computer right?

VHS/DVD recorder would make the process more automated, but if I do it on computer, I can also keep a backup copy of the video file on computer?
