My wife is asking me to find some small glass or plastic vials that her and my sons can fill with sand so that we can take them to her family in Europe when we visit them in a few weeks. I have no clue where to look for these - any ideas RS?

Ya I'd check a dollar store too.. pretty sure I've bought them there for my kids before but the corks sucked and fell out all the time. It they're for gifts could glue the corks in though..

How big? How about just using an empty peanut butter or mayo container?

Bulk Barn if you have one nearby. Bad in the day we used film canisters for that.

have you checked to see if it is actually legal to bring the sand to a different country? I have a feeling isn't not...

Yes, I have tried to find that answer but either my Google skills are weak or I lack the patience to read all the 'can I bring it home' American threads. I'll get my wife to search - she speaks the language after all.

Probably depends on the country you're visiting, and whether they consider sand to be soil.

Yeah, I figured that - and we land in Italy but then travel to Slovenia. My wife is rethinking this gift.

If it's really important, you can always use those metal pill containers you get from Lee Valley Tools and tell airport officials it's cremains of a loved one. Kind of looks like sand, yeah?

EDIT: found link to them.

^ thanks for the idea, but sand and remains are not alike. I have spread a few remains in the past - it is very white ash and powder like with chunks of bone, unlike brownish sand in many ways.

I say just do it and not lie about it. If they take it they take it. You gamble $20 dollars for the containers and the sand is free.

Both on Boundary Road

BC's Battery Wholesaler in Vancouver and Kamloops - Polar Battery in Greater Vancouver and Interior

Battery World Vancouver
