Recommend me an idiot proof router I can use with the shitty Shaw hitron router to take full advantage of internet 150. Preferably a local source (ie ncix) The range on the Shaw modem/router sucks balls and I'm getting dropped constantly on the upstairs of my townhouse. Would a range extender also be a good option? Or am I better off just getting a good router? |
Just get a good router. I used to use a range extender with my Linksys router and it wasn't the best but it worked. Then after much research I bought a NETGEAR Nighthawk R7000 router and now I have full signal without using a range extender. |
Can anyone recommend me a cheap place to repair an old samsung galaxy S3 screen? It's cracked and thinking of just repairing and giving it to my mom to use. I found a place that is doing it for $49. Anywhere else cheaper? |

i can't move the shaw router without making things ugly one of my coworkers also recommended the C7 how is it for range? For reference, the shaw router is in my living room on the main floor of my townhouse, my office space is upstairs, opposite side of the living room from the router/modem's location. Townhouse is 1600 sq ft in total. I swear the previous router/modem i had with internet 25 actually had better range...i had slower speeds in my office but it didn't drop as much as the current hitron. lol didn't know Home Depot sold routers |
The AC2600 is on sale for $108 + tax recently at Visions/Amazon |
Get Eero or Google Wifi if you are horrible with electronics. Town house that has wood construction or have metal barriers for internals? and how high? Where is the modem? Wifi works as a sphere. If metal (which blocks wifi) and you are technically able.. try Powerline adaptors, they turn your electrical panel to carry network signals. The higher the speeds, the more wires (up to 3) they use. Although I suggest getting plain Powerline adaptors then add good routers.. but that can get expensive. I assume you cannot or too late to wire Cat5. Quote:

i picked up the C7 from NCIX...price matched it with Amazon for $90, I'll see how that works. If that doesnt make things better i'll go for the r7000 edit: it's wood construction...i did look into the powerline adaptors briefly but i think it's a little drastic for my situation. |
Remember you have to turn your router into extender / mode. Quote:

I find Netgear has better software UI than Archer series.. The guts of these things are more or less the same (Broadcomm chipset of some kind).. the difference is the software, antennas and case designs. Quote:

Anywhere/one that does good powder-coating on steel for cheap/decent price? I have a set of powder-coated steel desk (OneLessOffice by Heckler Design to be precise), and I'd like to change its color. I tried plasti-dipping it, but it doesn't last very long. So I guess powdercoat the whole damn thing is the way to go. Alternatively, if anyone has a good suggestion on how to DIY paint a powder-coated steel, I'm all ears. I'm looking to paint into something basic... matte white or grey. |
Get MG1 to get this for you when he goes down to WA for his Costco / Gambling junket Powder Coating Gun with 10-30 PSI Powder Coating System If you want to enforce locally try KMS Tools: https://www.kmstools.com/search/resu...rd=powder+coat Quote:

If I were to get someone done locally here, any recommendations? The plan now is basically sandblast the old coat off myself and then bring it to someone to have it powdercoated again. |
