Aside from the typical dollarstore, grocery store, and Hallmark's, any interesting places for birthday / Christmas cards? Any "boutique" stores so to speak?

Looking to just send a few, so I don't mind paying a little bit more per card for more unique designs. As opposed to having a typical lame Hallmark template. Not interested in customizing my photo onto a card either.

Try stationery gift shops like nikaido in Steveston

I've bought cards made by indie artists from Zing Paperie and Design. Also recently Front and Company on Main st.

Best place to get diecast car models locally?

Looking for a very specific one. 1/18 - 1970 Dodge Dart Swinger in purple. Was my dads first car growing up and I've overheard him in the past talking about finding a diecast model but has been unsuccessful.

https://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/RgwAA...ZK1/s-l400.jpg

Ebay image so i don't know how long it'll stay posted here.

Best stores? Anywhere from West Van to Abbotsford

Car audio places, cabinetry places, MG1's workshop, school workshops, hundreds of places............ or, take a saw or drill or rasp and make your own sawdust?

Am I reading the question wrong?

Are these treads you are trying to repair from a wood screw? If that's the case. Wooden chopstick smacked into hole and screw the fastener back in. Best quick fix for repairing worn out screw holes in wood. Those disposable chopsticks are best. Maybe drill it out a bit, pun intended.

SSM_DC5 11-22-2020 07:28 PM

^toothpicks too?

MG1 11-22-2020 07:33 PM

depends on the size of the hole needing repaired.

Japanese style chopsticks are best because of tapered/pointed ends. tap in and break off. Voila! Or some amuricans wood say, wa la!

As for actual sawdust. I probably have like 2 cups of sawdust in the pockets of my shop aprons, lol. Really need to clean them out.........one day.

You interpreted it correctly, Yes i am repairing the wood thread for Garage door spring bracket.
I plan to fill the hole with wood glue + saw dust + wood dowel
and then re-drill the hole with a pilot hole

I don't do wood work at all, so collecting saw dust is kinda difficult for me.

Do you have a drill? Just drill a bunch of holes into wood and make your own.

I'd just go to HD and get the next size up. It's probably just a lag bolt. If you want to go extra, go to Dollarama, grab a syringe of 2 part epoxy for $1.50 and fill the hole, before putting the bolt in.

Edit. If the bolt is only 1½-2" long, you can also get the same dia. bolt but up to 3½" long, since above the garage door should have a double header + ½" drywall.

Any recommendations for a higher-end Japanese Green Tea I can get locally?

I don't know enough about it, and Tetley's doesn't seem like the right tea to give to an older Japanese person...lol.

It's a gift, looking to spend ~$75 for a reasonable amount (say, 30 cups or so).

Is it actually good? They sell small bags of 100g, but looking to buy a bit more then that

Spectre_Cdn 11-25-2020 10:27 PM

Haven't tried these personally, but the latter is on the "higher" end. The former can be found in several restaurants and Japanese retailers.
