GG MY Blackberry: Now what?

Haven't dropped it, don't recall it being hit or crushed in any way.
Found my obamaberry on my desk one night like this

I got the phone from a 3 yr contract with rogers and I've had it for about 5 months now. What do I do? Does rogers cover LCD damages under warranty or do i have to pay an arm and a leg to get it replaced?

Note that only the inside LCD is cracked and the surface glass/plastic isn't.

By the way, I got the phone in Vancouver but im at school in kelowna right now. do you think kelowna's rogers will handle it?

What should I do?

If you havent dropped it or water damaged it at all, no worries rogers will send you a refurbished one and you just send the damaged one you have back to them. But if they find out it was because it was dropped, or water damaged they will charge $500 to your account.

Correct, there is a piece of litmus paper in the phone that changes colour with moisture. They will not replace your phone if there is water damage.

Dropping your phone is argumentative, and you could possibly win still if you have the right talking skills.

ok well i dropped the phone a while ago and i am positive that there is no correlation between the small scuff i have on the corner and the crack because the scuffs were made over 4 months ago. i guess the only thing i can use as an argument is that there are no scuffs/scrapes/damages anywhere near the screen :S

well it'll be difficult to prove when the scuffs/cracks occurred relative to the screen no longer working.

You can say it happened 4+ months ago but you can't really differentiate whether it actually caused the screen to malfunction or it was pre-existing.

had this happen to a friends 9700 as well, they only had it for about a month, not even dropped, it seem like this is very similar to the nexus one and it's screen cracking due to vibration from daily use ex. bumped, etc.. and the stress cracks slowly get worse till the screen cracks

Talked to Rogers about cellphone replacement program and they said you will only get exact phone if it's lower end model, iPhone users will get temporary replacement that is not an iPhone. I dunno if blackberry is consider high end device.

So the advertisement about the guy dropping phone and a truck ran over it is really false. Need to read their fine prints under that contract." some restrictions may apply"=>" alot of restrictions will apply"=>"we fucked u over"

i know im reviving an old thread.
anyways

1. does rogers refurb phones due to OS issues?
if yes
2. will rogers blame drop damages (scuffs, drop dents) as a means to refuse refurb; even if OS issue?

ex/
sometimes my alarm doesnt work
changing sound profile but it doesnt change
after changing input language to korean, it wont let me type in korean...

For the record, they have means of telling if your phone has been dropped or suffered impact. This will shift parts inside the phone from their proper places and any tech that deals with them regularly will be able to tell when they crack case. Like wise, as stated a piece of paper within that will show any water damage.

Why wouldnt you just update the OS yourself?
Depending on which model you have there are TONS of OS updates available
