How much is public road signs cost?

My brother just got into an accident, he fell asleep and hit a road sign, one of those yellow ones showing "BUMP Ahead".
I was wondering how much would it cost him to get the sign fix?

Thanks

Sorry, I hope your brother is okay.

call 3-1-1 and ask them

$120 for the sign.

$1,596.88 for the four city workers and two trucks required for a full 8-hour shift to put it up.

Needing a warning sign FOR the warning sign.. Priceless.

I'm sorry, but how is that remotely relevant to his question?

AVS_Racing 10-18-2010 07:37 PM

LOL maybe ship a HKDM sign over here :troll:

jstn86 10-18-2010 07:43 PM

if it's a sign and the pole, you are probably looking at anything from $150-$500?

the cost of the sign itself maybe be less than $100 but like others have mentioned, if the city workers have to install it, you would be paying for labour

ask the city if you can do it yourself. lol. highly unlikely though!

Culverin 10-18-2010 07:45 PM

Unions won't let the city do that.
You're taking away their work, and they don't like that.

It's kinda like private healthcare vs public.
Even if you are willing and have money, you can't.

vafanculo 10-18-2010 08:14 PM

Wow, kinda thought insurance would cover it. Didn't think op would have to pay themselves.

This would make for a good community chest monopoly card.

"You fell asleep at the wheel and crashed into a Public road sign. Pay $450 to the city."

lol

What's the deal with winning second prize in the beauty contest? That card seemed like it was in the wrong deck.

On topic, I'd be tempted to just try and fix the sign myself if no one was around to see what happened. However, best do things officially if ICBC is involved.

How mangled is the sign? Is it just a bent metal support member? Did the base come out of the ground? I'm picturing a bent hollow metal stand that could be replaced at Home Depot.

yah sorry about my poor grammar lol, I posted right after I heard the incident.
my brother is fine, he's just dumb, he actually just got his 'N'.
Thanks for all your inputs,
I believe if the cost is over 1500 then we would have to pay it thru ICBC.
Didnt realize its going to be this costly! T_T.
The 1997 4runner had damages from the front bumper / grille / hood, I guess he'd be looking into another 1000 or so.

damn falling asleep at the wheel? I would never want to be in front of your bro!

Mr.Jay 10-19-2010 12:20 AM

just got N or just bought N XD

glad to hear he is okay tho

CanadaGoose 10-19-2010 01:33 AM

Just leave it, consider it paid for - your taxes for 2010 will pay for it :D

StylinRed 10-19-2010 01:41 AM

he probably said he fell asleep so your parents won't get mad and instead be concerned

AzNightmare 10-19-2010 02:21 AM

what kind of stupid thread is this... seriously.

GabAlmighty 10-19-2010 07:49 AM

Why would you tell them you did it? Unless you reported the accident...

hchang 10-19-2010 08:11 AM

Your "brother" hit the sign :troll:

taylor192 10-19-2010 09:16 AM

I ran over a stop sign before. Just bent it back up and it stayed that way for years.
