Able to exchange new phone (from contract renewal) for different model?
 

Hey everyone, thanks in advance for your input...I know very little about how the mobile industry works so sorry if this is a newb or redundant question:

I just renewed my contract with Telus and was able to get a free phone (Nokia E72). Originally I wanted the Blackberry Pearl 3G, but I couldn't get that for free without a data plan.

Am I able to take the Nokia E72 and exchange it for the Blackberry Pearl 3G since they are listed for the same price? If so can I do it in a retail store or do I have to mail the phone back to Telus and have them send the BB?

I would talk to any of the telus stores first and get it in writing that the person said they will take the phone in trade. You might have to get approval from the store manager first though. Worth a try.
