Which is a better buy? A 2000 1.6 EL with 122K or a 1997 Acura 1.6 EL with 87K?

I'm trying to decide whether to buy a 2000 Acura 1.6 EL with 122,000 km with cloth seats or a 1997 Acura 1.6 EL with 87,000 km with leather seats. Which of the aforementioned cars is the better buy? If I buy the 2000 Acura 1.6 EL with cloth seats I might swap the cloth seats for leather seats. The leather seats on the aforentioned 1997 Acura 1.6 EL might be of better quality than other used 1.6 EL leather seats because they only have 87,000 km or would a newer 2000 Acura 1.6 EL be better even though it has 35,000 more km and it would need a seat swap if I wanted leather seats in the aforementiond 2000 Acura 1.6 EL?

^ not really....as long as the car has been taken care of, especially a honda. Id take the 97 tho, because if im correct honda started to have trans problems in the 2000+ models.

KM's don't mean shit!! People put way to much stock into how many a km a car has. The real big difference in the 2 cars is this. The 97 if you plan to mod it will only require a rolling test on Aircare. The 2000 will require and OBD2 scan to pass and is a pain in the ass if you mod the car.

If you don't plan on modding the car and aircare isn't an issue go with the 2000. The climate control and a few other interior things are designed better in the 99-2000 models.

Depending on price of course if there is a huge discrepancy in prices then the cheaper of the 2 will be the better option.

Berz out.

Get the 2000 then hands down if your not concerned about the OBD2 problem ie. your not planning on doing an engine swap anytime soon.

I think it really depends on what your plans are for the car?

do you plan to build it up at all or just use it as a DD?

Go with the newer one and spend the money to replace the timing belt and all the fluids..

I plan to use the car as a daily driver. Maybe in the future I might do a transmission swap from automatic to manual and an engine swap.

Don't EVER buy a used car with the intention of swapping auto to manual. The cost and the hassle will far outweigh just BUYING a manual in the first place.

^Cool story bro.

The auto tranny from that gen of Acura ELs and Civic Si's are prone to problems. They get even worst if you try to change the transmission fluid.

Buy a 99-00 1.6EL sport with a 5spd if you want a reliable daily driver. The cloth seats are more comfortable and wears a lot better than the horrific leather. With the sport, you also get a moonroof.

They are awesome DDs. You might also want to check out the G20t's. They':
-have more power
-lower maintenance (no timing belts)
-much better seats (same as QX4's)
-standard leather, moonroof, climate control, ass warmers, Bose system
-Leather + Suede seats on the 2002 G20t's

So I sugested the lotus elise, I assume you can't afford that so why not go with a 1989/1990 Skyline R32 GTS-T. You can get a manual for juder under 6 grand easy. Manaul + turbo daily driver is perfect.

Don't waste your money buying either one of these! There's a white EL by Kingsway and Nanaimo with its key still in the door!!
