Depends. I've been through Pt. Roberts and most of the time I get taxed and have to pay duty. The last few times I went through Blaine and use the truck crossing and was lucky and didn't get taxed.

YMMV.

I put WS60s on yesterday at Discount Tire in Bellingham. Came back through peace arch and, unsurprisingly, paid tax.

All good, saved about $300 tho.

I've never been taxed! Call it luck, but I've claimed everything from my $500 tires, to $1500 rims, and have never been taxed!
All at Point Roberts, too!

Yeah I rarely get taxed at Point Roberts

but always get taxed in Blaine even if its a smaller amount like $300.

I only know from going to Blaine, but every time I have brought rims or tires across I have had to pay duty.

It seems people are getting taxed more often at Peace Arch than at Point Roberts, I might have to switch which border I get my stuff shipped to.

Try shipping Kumho's to Canada to see if they charge duty

They might not charge you duty, but you get charged:
- 100% the HST tax,
- BC's provincial tire fee, AND
- a brokerage fee.

I rather take the trip cross the border, full declare everything...and have the chance of having the tax waived through.

For example,

........................Ship to WA............................Ship to Vancouver
Tire & Rims:......$760................................... .$760
UPS Shipping:...$130.................................. ..$271
Tax:................$0............................ ...........$98.81
Duty:.............. $0.......................................$13.44
Provincial Tire Fee: $0....................................$20
Brokerage Fee: $0.........................................$30

Grand Total: $893 USD...............................$1193 USD

Excluding my gas $:
If I get waived through: $300 difference
If I have to pay HST: $193 difference
If I have to pay HST & Duty: $140 difference

Receiving tires from one of the shipping company's: Max $20-30 USD

Unless you really don't have the time to drive down yourself, it works out to be cheaper by going down South.

P.S: For those that's been charged HST at the border, do you remember if
they charge you on the product's value? or both the product + shipping's amount?

1010TIRES.COMŽ — Tires and Wheels Absolute Authority.

It's canadian and the prices aren't too off from tirerack IIRC.

Some members have used it, its not bad...but it really varies from tire to tire, brand to brand, size to size.
For example, the ones I want are:
$121 / tire at Tire Rack
$178 / tire at 1010
$18x / tire at Costco
$19x / tire at Canadian Tire
$200+++ at dealerships.

So depending what tires you want...might or might not work for some people.

You guys have to check out Discount Tires, Custom Wheels, Rims, Goodyear, Michelin, Cooper Tires

They had the rare 14inch Toyos in stock when very few shops carry these anymore

I always check there or Home - Discount Tire Direct

+1 I've only used DTD since I started driving, their free shipping means they are usually the cheapest + they price match. I also get a discount ($50 off order of $500 or more, $100 off order of $1000 or more) because they screwed up my last order

If they don't show a wheel or tire on their website try giving them a call, I got an awesome deal on some special TSW's. Also by calling you can order wheels with any size hubcentric ring (sometimes online selection doesn't let you run aggressive offsets and in my case wobble bolts)

I strongly prefer the DTD way of finding rims, they might not have a lot of the premium wheel brands that tirerack does, but of what they do have everything is clearly listed and you can search by wheel size rather than vehicle specific.

Just on the product, so make sure you report that number. You can't bring shipping across the boarder.

cool. Thanks.
Cause if you do get asked to go inside...they will be looking over the receipts, and I'm not sure if the shipping cost will make the "grand total" price look higher than before.

They should charge HST on the product value, excluding shipping.
