Hakkapeliitta R tires are pretty sick, had them on my del sol before.

Driving on snow with those tires is like driving on tarmac :)

MindBomber 11-11-2010 11:39 PM

All the reviews I read on them are awesome, totally worth the $200 I spent for a brand new pair off craigslist.

Any idea how the fuck Hakkapeliitta is pronounced?

CorneringArtist 11-12-2010 06:44 AM

Dunno, maybe something along the lines of "Hack-a-pel-lita"?

Maybe I should have looked into those tires, The Fins know their shit when it comes to winter driving...

wix, whoever is selling those rims should be able to tell you what they're off of. If they came off one of the cars I listed, great, if not measure them first. Volco and sorat are totally different companies. Sorat seems to have better pricing on most stuff, including mount and balance.

TypeRNammer, I'm selling a set of Nissan GTR rims (16x6.5, 5x114.3, 66.1 CB, 40mm offset) for $250firm. PM if interested.

GTR rims are 16x8 +30

What you have are just plain ol' Skyline rims

Yup that's how I've heard it pronounced.
Where do you guys get them in the states? Locally is pretty expensive IMO

sexyaccord 11-12-2010 11:36 AM

which shop do you guys recommend swapping 4 winter tires on ?

fliptuner 11-12-2010 11:47 AM

Sorat seems to have good pricing

Mugen EvOlutioN 11-12-2010 11:53 AM

he is all the way in north van, pretty damn far

fliptuner 11-12-2010 12:02 PM

Guys drive 45+ minutes to a shop by my house just to get tires stretched properly and not risk rim damage. Not quite the same but sometimes it's worth the drive to get it done right.

Van - N.Van isn't far anyways.

1010tire and tirerack have the best pricing I've seen. If you have a common tire size search craigslist though, there were a few sets of Nokian tires when I looked.

Hakkapeliitta RSi & X-Ice Xi2 are on both car
bring it on, Snow

!LittleDragon 11-12-2010 08:20 PM

Snows are on... did them this evening. Brand new X Ice XI2 in the rear, 3 season old Pilot Alpins in the front. My rear Pilot Alpins had about 2mm left from the wear indicator and the traction wasn't great from the whole inch of snow we had last year so I got new ones this season.

mipy601 11-12-2010 08:25 PM

i think its not season yet?

!SG 11-12-2010 08:31 PM

looks like snow is coming on the 20th!

moomooCow 11-12-2010 08:43 PM

fuck yeah! can't wait for the snow :)

CorneringArtist 11-12-2010 08:50 PM

Srsly? Wow that's soon! Here comes the clusterfuck of winter tire installs to my dealership when that hits.

syee 11-12-2010 09:56 PM

Wow, all this talk of snow...that means I gotta get off my lazy ass on the weekend and throw on the winter tires on my car and my dad's van.

Still using the Bridgestone Revo1's from 2 seasons ago. Still got plenty of meat on the winters so should be good for a few more seasons.

Spectre_Cdn 11-12-2010 10:29 PM

just put on my 1-yr-old altimax arctics this morning :)

nah don't think so in the lower mainland. Might be a big dump in the local mountains though. but 6 degrees high will not be snowing, unless overnight. It looks like we are heading to sunny weather end of nov.

Really when I go to tirerack they don't show any nokian/nokian brand
1010 tires is going to be over $300 with HST ouch!

Going on Nokian's site I see a few tire factories going down I5 but they don't show pricing on the tire factory website

Energy 11-13-2010 09:32 AM

Blizzaks going on later today. Can't wait for some snow!

Really!

I swear they were $170 for the Hakkapeliitta R tires, and $200 for the Hakkapeliitta 5 tires on 1010tire 2 days ago.
