I'm just so happy i was actually able to stop and glide on my toes now!! I just brought myself to a whole new level of suck!!

This weekend...its Hemlock Valley! Hooray for free passes.

PS. I hate rope tows.

Seymour is sooo good cuz it's not packed. best parks in town imo

Went to seymour yesterday and got to experience virgin powder for the first time. On the brockton/highest chair. Too bad it was only 30 seconds at a time if that haha.

How long does the ski season in whistler go until? You think it'll still be going for Easter long weekend April 22nd-24th?

TOS'd 03-23-2011 11:30 AM

^ Doesnt Whistler have skiing during May long weekend? Or do ppl just go there for partying.

Death2Theft 03-23-2011 03:22 PM

Heard a nasty rumor that the local mountains will close at 5 after spring break? Any truth?

blackcomb opens till may 23rd

Whistler closes may 23rd, and preps their bike park for opening.

Blackcomb closes it's main area May 23rd, and opens up for glacier riding from June 18th to July 24th.

There is truth as it happens every season around this time, regardless of how much snow there is.

I don't know for certain when it's going to happen, but for the amount of people that enjoyed the snow this winter it trickled down to 1/4 of the enthusiasts after spring break.

Keep in mind that out of the three mountains on the north shore, Grouse is the only privately owned mountain. Meaning they can continue to run their ski operation till whenever they feel like it, where as Seymour and Cypress have to operate based on the lease they get from BC parks board for running a business on the government owned property.

Wonder what would happen if i started putting on skins or snowmobile it up there at 5, would they care?
So what does the cypress buy season pass early now and ski from mar 28 till season ends, I guess only if you ski in the day time..... :(

You can go hike after the mountain officially closes its doors, but durinmg the time when they close @ 4, they still are in operations, the groomers come out @ 5 and they still have employees working round the clock.

The operating days and hours of the extended period is as follows: Friday, April 15-Sunday, April 17: 9:00am-5:00pm Friday, April 22-Sunday, April 24: 9:00am-5:00pm
Cypress: April 25th

Seymour early bird seasons pass prices are up..

Adult: $324
Youth: $229
Student: $229
Senior: $139
Child: $59
Tot: $29
Family: $749

These prices from Sept 1 - 31st.

I hope the student prices apply for univ students!!

EDIT: just called seymour guest services, and it does :D

Just changed my mind from getting grouse's Y2PLAY season's pass for $355 to get seymour's seasons pass for $229 :D

Death2Theft 03-25-2011 07:06 AM

Guess i'll try out grouse today to see why on earth they think their parking pass + annual pass is worthy to be in the same price range as a seasons pass on cypress. Not expecting much tho.
Grouse however is open till 10pm till end of season which might be late april.
Thing that seems to suck about grouse is you have no idea of the visibility just by parking at the parkinglot as you still have to pay to ride the lift up... If thats the case I may just go cypress instead.
Any pics today vangruver?

sonick 03-25-2011 10:34 AM

Hope the rain holds off until after tomorrow, dying to go up to Cypress tomorrow. Been too long since I last went riding.

You do not need to buy a parking pass. Lot D which is only about 20 seconds away from the gondola is free. The only difference is that it's unpaved. You will have a pretty good idea on the visibility by just the drive there, since you can see the mountain from Vancouver. My rule of thumb is that if I can see "The cut" from my house, it's all good. Or you can just check their website for updates. Also, the gondola ride is free when you pay for your lift ticket or season pass. Just thought I'd clear a few things up, since I'm a Y2play pass holder and a Grouse whore!!! :D

Great day at Cypress, it was strangely not busy at all even though weather was perfect in the morning!

Yeah super nice weather. It was extremely dead which was even better lol.

Just went to Hemlock Valley Yesterday.....

Not a bad place to go......but WORST DRIVE....EVER!!

Death2Theft 03-27-2011 07:38 AM

I'm sure Lot D fills up fast then. There have been a few times where looking at the mountain vs being up there is very different. You would see a giant bunch of clouds but when you get there the visibility is good at least 30+ feet. The chick at grouse told me that the conditions can change between the parkinglot and the gondola and you wont be able to tell until you got up past the parkinglot, which means you'd have to already buy your pass. :failed:

Well, i know i wanna go to Cypress before the season ends. Last one to check out for me....

Death2Theft 03-29-2011 10:17 AM

Cypress is open till 7 today at least that lets you stay outta rush hour. Getting kicked off the mountain at 5 would blow massive balls just to get stuck in traffic. Visibility prob sux today or i'd go.

I guess my night timer pass wouldn't work anymore from 4-7?
