What to do with old cars

i have a car that still runs but its in bad shape cosmetically so dealers wont take it and i don't want the trouble to sell it on CL, is there any place i can take it to like a junk yard that will take cars for cash?

Just curious... What car?

kkttsang 11-07-2010 08:58 PM

how do they determine the amount of the receipt?

SumAznGuy 11-07-2010 08:58 PM

What type of car is it?
I know the BC gov use to have a scrap it program, but I think it might be over now.

Maybe donate it to a high school so they can work on it for their shop class. Or BCIT mechanics.

I believe it is a set amount for running vehicles. $100 or maybe $50.

It might help to actually spell his name correctly.

From the sound of it, it won't be even close to 2000 if there are "dents and stuff so its in bad shape".

How many KMs is it? Any problems other than cosmetic? Does the AC/Heat work? Any leaks? Last time you changed brakes, rotors, timing belt, fluids? Any accidents?

There are lots of questions so it really depends. I wouldn't expect someone to just fork over 2000 dollars for something that isn't in great shape.

kkttsang 11-07-2010 10:18 PM

180ks

to be honest im happy with 1000
and which is why im wondering if any junk yard would take it for a little bit of money and also thinking about donating it like jeremy617 suggested

kokanee_vtec 11-07-2010 10:21 PM

Can I have it?

fliptuner 11-07-2010 10:38 PM

In my experience, you'd get around $300 from the wreckers...maybe, $150-$175 from a scrapper, and $500-$800 if you sold it as a winter beater.

Really depends on mechanical condition, mileage, Aircare etc..

jpark 11-08-2010 05:22 AM

lol ill buy it as a winter beater

roastpuff 11-08-2010 09:19 AM

I'll buy it and turn it into a Rally Tib. :haha:

freakshow 11-08-2010 09:26 AM

Get a friend to CL it for you.. tell them you want 500 bucks, and they can keep whatever they sell it for above that.
