I have an '06 328i which I prefer a lot more just because the sport steering is a lot more sensative and therefore more fun to drive, but if I had to drive a car in the snow, i'd choose quattro over BMW's x-technology any day.
Also, BMW is so much more mod-friendly IMO, if you're into that... | I like the 335i as well, but I'm only worried about the engine's reliability. My friend had a base 335i coupe for less than 2 year and sold it bc it had major oil burning and overheating issues. The car was only 1.5 years old and already has major engine problems. On the other hand, another friend of mine with a 330i sedan didn't have any of these problems. it could just be a lemon, but i think the turbo in the 335i engine is more prone to these issues than non turbo bmw engines.

gotta admit, that thing was fun to drive. infiniti's are pretty solid, reliability wise.
for the ones suggesting audi...my buddy's brand new s5 required its waterpump to be changed after 2 months after purchase.
=/ |
S5 is still using the out-dated 4.2L V8 from the B6/B7 S4..which will have water pump issues. I would never touch a car with that V8 in it, some of the service records I've seen with that motor are almost 20 pages long.

The 335i had lots of HPFP issues, and the turbos were not easily swapped out/fixed because of the integrated design. The 330i was a proven engine by the time of the E90 330i with lots of history, with all the bugs ironed out.
@ the OP, if you can get a G35X with an updated interior it's a great car for Vancouver.

plus the s5 doesnt feel very fast at all
the 350hp 340 torque certainly didnt help due to the 1750kg fat ass
car is smooth tho and quiet. Steering was a bit light as well as the suspension was on the soft side

i'm in the same boat, looking for a g35 as well.
from what i've learned from reading sites and asking people is that the first couple years had the most problems (which is pretty much a given)
People have been stressing the fact to go with 05 and up.. so I'm still looking..

SUBARU STATION-WAGON? | From what stand point? Prestige, maybe not, luxury, depends on your definition. But from a driving pleasure, performance, engineering stand point, Subaru is at the top when it comes to fun to drive AWD vehicles.
When I bought my legacy spec b, I test drove the IS350, G35X Sedan, and the 330i, but when it came down to it, the subaru offered the best praticallity+fun, plus it has a lower cost of ownership from a maintenace stand point. Lastly, the 2.5L turbo charged boxer engine is definately one of a kind. Posted via RS Mobile |

Posted via RS Mobile | Not saying legacy is a bad car, but op is going after a infiniti which is a luxury brand therfore wanting something that has all the bells and whistles of a luxury branded car. Thats why everyone suggested Audis, bmw etcc

for a daily driver in Vancouver (where the average speed most places is like 45 km/h) -- I'd say the G35X is a winner

And the 4.2 v8 is different from previous 4.2s, since the one in the S5s incorporates FSI.
