| Reminder for those who don't know (at least I didn't know)
You need to shovel the snow off your sidewalk before 10 am or else you'll be slapped with a fine of $250. Quote:
All Vancouver property owners and occupants are responsible for clearing snow and ice from the full width of sidewalks that surround their property by 10 am on the morning following a snowfall, seven days a week.

If they don’t, they may be slapped with $250 fines.

I don't get the point if shoveling the sidewalk when all of the snow gets pushed on to the road anyways. It's makes it harder for drivers to park and drive through giant mounds of snow. They should change the law so people shovel snow off the road on to the sidewalk Posted via RS Mobile |

^ it's generally for the safety of pedestrians and postal workers. when i shovel snow i place it either on the lawn or somewhere else out of the way of pedestrians and traffic.
has anyone else lived on a major street before? back in 2008 i did, and everytime the plow trucks passed by, my driveway would be blocked by snow again |

i find it easier to trudge through snow than a shoveled walk since not all the snow is ever shoveled and what's left is slippery as fuck

I broke my ankle on a slippery sidewalk, that had just been shoveled and was off work for over a year.
If shoveled sidewalks are the law, salting them needs to a law too.
