watch out this morning kids. streets are slippery as hell, and i am on winter tires. 5am through vancouver/burnaby/new west/surrey nothing has been de-iced... even watching transit buses blowing red lights with brakes locking up :o

I was wondering why there was so much salt on the roads this morning?
Literially, the streets were white with salt when I was driving in to work this morning.

thumper 01-15-2016 06:46 AM

i thought it was heavy frost? at least that's what i had to deal with on the sidewalks after parking on the street...

SumAznGuy 01-15-2016 06:53 AM

Sidewalks were covered in frost.
But when I pulled up to the red light on Burnaby Mountain Parkway and Duthie, that intersection had an unusual amount of salt on the ground.

Because that intersection is at the bottom hill, I guess there was a stream of water that froze overnight, which needed the ice since the salt brine wouldn't have been enough.

Crazy slippery this morning. Wasn't worth going out to get Starbucks, lol. Gonna rain later and for the rest of the week. At least the days are getting longer. Still lots of time for it to snow. We've had snow up to mid April.

danned 01-15-2016 09:50 PM

raining now

thumper 01-20-2016 01:07 PM

there is mention of some snow in the first weeks of february... should be interesting?

i-vtecyo 01-20-2016 01:49 PM

Highly doubt it if your talking about lower mainland. Meteorologists cant predict the 7 days forecast in metro Vancouver, let alone 3 days ahead and your sources are talking about half a month in advance lol..

Sorry. EPSgram doesn't agree with you.

thumper 01-20-2016 07:50 PM

dunno. i guess the forecast changed. it was on the weather channel long term forecast on tv this morn before i went to work... snow turning to rain or rain showers

AzNightmare 01-21-2016 11:47 AM

Wondering should I take my snow tires off... treads are kind of too soft for the road when there's no snow to buffer, and since there isn't actually any snow, my tires are wearing out at a relatively fast rate...

320icar 01-21-2016 12:12 PM

How many km are you driving?? I'd rather use them when they work best, or keep them for 10 years and have them harden/dry out

Anyways, whistler ski lessons tomorrow!! Heard they are getting one hell of a dump right now. Kinda hope for rain so the roads are clear lol

thumper 01-21-2016 01:59 PM

is accuweather... accurate?

Only chance of snow in the lower mainland is a month long deep freeze and pineapple express whamming us.

Gucci Mane 01-21-2016 04:11 PM

not sure how they could predict weather for an entire month.. lol

Harvey Specter 01-21-2016 04:17 PM

My guts telling me we won't see any major snowfall in Vancouver this winter.

Berzerker 01-21-2016 04:49 PM

We haven't even had any major dumps up north yet. Lots of small stuff but no big amounts all at once.

Berz out.

MG1 01-21-2016 04:58 PM

MG1's Carnac Almanac predicts snow for sure mid to late February.

did you swap back to summers yet? i'm still on the fence because i had to scrape my windows because of frost yesterday because i go to work at 5am at 1'c indicated, but towards the afternoon i saw 15'c on my car display :o

Berzerker 03-18-2016 08:50 AM

I just swapped my summers back on and I'm in Smithers. I would think anyone down south is safe to swap now. If it does snow down there it will be gone by noon.

Berz out.

murd0c 03-18-2016 08:55 AM

yesterday morning I actually had frost on my windows, I was pretty shocked about it

jeedee 03-18-2016 08:57 AM

lol yup saw the frost yesterday morning on my car and the 1'c and went :seriously:

Berzerker 03-18-2016 09:02 AM

It has snowed a couple times in the last week but like I said it's gone by noon. It's still -8 here over night but warms up pretty good in the day time.

Berz out.
