Leaving for school this morning, saw a x6 pulled over to the side with like -30 degrees of camber.

burnaby is a joke. nothing is plowed, sanded... nothing. like what was commented above, transit buses are getting stuck on major roads like hastings so imagine what is going on with the side roads...

hwy 1 is sketchy everywhere. port mann is not good. the new west part was okay. total carnage on the grandview ramps. this was 5-6am.

this better be gone by the time i have to go home

It's raining in Langley. Snow fell overnight, but thank God it didn't stick to the roads. I'm gonna take the next 2 days off, and use one of them to get winter tires installed.

Your best bet is to go to Costco first thing in the morning, drop off the car and wait till they are done.
Now that the first snow has hit, everyone will be out geting their snowies installed.

Shitty drivers who don't think they need snow tires then panicking when there's winter conditions = today

Absolutely pathetic scene

Do winter tires make that big of a difference? In the Lower Mainland I've never ran anything but all seasons and never had a problem with front wheel drives and or any of my trucks or my AWD SUV.

I mean back in the early 90's when I was in highschool I'd drive my 5.0L mustang on all seasons and still get around, a little slipping and sliding but manageable even as a 17 and 18 year old kid.

They make a hell of a lot of difference. Best investment for winter.

Winter tires makes my car feel invincible in the snow. Traction traction traction! Stopping distance is greatly reduced, too.

My fiancee could make it up a steep hill this morning with winter tires. I had to abort the same hill with M+S all seasons. Went home and took transit.

I always had my doubts on winter tires until I actually used some decent ones (hakapalita in both light truck and car tires) I couldn't beleive the difference. And it's not just about snow it's cold wet roads and ice as well.

I use BFG all-terrains on my truck rated with the snowflake, in the last week or so I've almost been rear ended twice by two different cars that couldn't stop in time when the car in front of me braked hard. Both times the car behind me slammed on their brakes and slid past me on the side where I stopped smoothly in a truck loaded with shit

Imo if you're a half decent driver you probably don't need them, but for everyone else and your own personal safety id say they are a worthwhile investment

I remember back in the day going through 6" of snow in my MR2 Turbo on Yoko ES100's... slip and slide but I got where I needed to go... just make sure you brake really really early. I eventually did get snow tires for it.

Had snow tires on my Sonata 2.0T but not enough snow here to justify the cost. On top of that, I bought them skinnier so they dug into the snow but that made for some sketchy handling when it was wet.

In the Genesis 5.0, I just opted with DWS-06. Stopped and started no problem this morning. I'm sure the AWD helped... more than 6" of snow, I'm just going to work from home.

Would you happen to know what time Costco Tire Center open in the mornings? Put off switching to my winters but luckily I can bus to work, still a gong show though.

They should be called winter tires - not just for snow, but for ice/cold/wet as well.

I wish people knew how to use gears, watching drivers try to slowly drive down a snowy hill in Coquitlam is entertaining.. I'm passing them in a controlled manner in 1st gear while their pumping their brakes and causing themselves a higher chance of losing traction in Drive.

snow tires make an unbelievable difference. However ive never owned a set in the 15+ years ive been driving and have never got stuck or had an accident. If your going to drive with all seasons you just need to know they have good tread or youll be fucked
