The WRG3 is the all weather tire carried by Nokian. The Hakkapeliitta R2 is a dedicated winter tire which is on par with the X-ice3 in terms of performance ratings.
u r right, i mixed up the R2 and WRG3. double checked today, and they are indeed the all weather WRG3 on the car.
even in today's icy side road conditions, i didnt get stuck or have traction issues unless im giving it a bit too much gas

I know it wouldn't be the same being an adult, but I would love to have a dumping like we had in 1996. I have such fond memories of that blizzard, as do many of you guys I'm sure.
2008 was the last huge snow storm we got. Snowed for 4 days straight, literally shut down DT Vancouver.
ah I remember those days. It was awesome. I think that was the only time I got to use chains on the major roads driving around Vancouver. The roads were deserted and only thing on the road were lifted trucks and 4x4 or cars with chains.

One thing I want know......... are all transit busses equipped with good snow tires?
Pretty sure buses do not have snow tires. For sure all the buses that were going up Hastings towards SFU.
The B-line tandams are the worse because it doesn't take much for them to jackknife.

Fire the engineers who designed Port Mann ... those chain links are so ghetto. Did they hire a 2nd year Engineering student intern to design that? Sorry, no insult to 2nd year Eng students intended ... they can probably do better!!
Someone is going to die - ice bomb falls, driver shock, lose control of car, cause a chain reaction ... pile up. This will be worst than the FastCat fiasco.
My understanding is that it was designed to have heated cables, and Kiewit decided they weren't needed and left them out to save money.
Engineers aren't stupid.

i remember looking at the tires on the buses parked at the whalley loop and i did not see anything that said they were winter tires?
the last time i could recall transit buses chaining up was back around 1992-1992? i was trying to get from coquitlam to bcit and it took nearly 2 hours. by the time i got there i was 5 minutes into the the lecture i was already late for and bcit announced they were closing

Kiewit built some bridges in WA state and elsewhere iirc, the same styled bridges, and they all had the falling ice issue, yet those involved with our bridges here obviously didn't do their due diligence, or cared about it anyway
