Was driving by 29th Station about to drop my wife off when we heard the gunshot. Decided to go to McDonald's instead.
Road conditions in that area are brutal - the worst I can remember in Vancouver. Kingsway is packed ice as 41st. There was a 41 bus that had slid backwards into a light standard and stacks of buses just stuck everywhere on 41.
Was a shit storm this morning. Drove by ppl waiting for buses that were never going to show up, skytrain platform was packed, and buses and cars stuck everywhere. Traffic was so slow I took the side streets instead. I guess everyone thinks they can get by with all seasons tires, and assumed roads would be plowed and salted. I guess they were wrong.
Wow after reading all this shit, seriously glad I have mondays off. Would not have wanted to be stuck in the skytrain shit show.

Police shot someone at 29th station...causing huge delays. Also I heard there some downed trees on tracks? Why haven't all trees near tracks been cut down?
listening to the radio right now. someone called in about the morons who still insist on trying boundary road and hastings st.. caller basically pulled up a lawn chair in the front yard with some hot chocolate to watch the inevitable dogpile...

17 and 99 were half cleared this morning, I have snow tires on my LS400, but could feel the slight loss of traction from the slush. Where it was pissing rain was nice and normal though.
East Van was a gongshow this morning... left from NV to go to the airport at about 7:40AM. All was good until Rupert St, and that's where it began. The traffic was starting to stop, the traffic lights were out at Broadway, so we took 8th to Renfrew... saw all the buses stuck on that tiny hill on Broadway. Got down to almost Grandview Hwy, suddenly the train crossing closed the gates... nothing was coming. Cut across to Rona and the tracks were stil open LOL. Probably some ice hit a switch or something. It was a total mess until we reached about 41st Ave. Everything north of that is just ice and snow and all season tires
The first white Christmas that we have at home in awhile and I get to spend it in Toronto LOL

Anyone else feel like Translink themselves are one of the worst offenders for causing problems?
I mean I saw like a dozen busses all mangled or stuck all over the road. Like fuck, you'd think they of all people would have their shit together.
They would have been better off just saying; "fuck it, we can't provide service today", rather than the dog shit gong show they supplied transit users with.
I can't be the only one who would be getting the fuck away from there if the police had their guns drawn... right? What causes people to hang around situations like that?
