If the weather forecast is correct, this coming Friday Jan 6 to Jan 10 we are getting a good dumping of snow. Depending on how bad Vancouver just might shut down lol

:lawl::lawl::lawl::lawl:

I love signs in front of churches. So many funny ones. We should start a holy shit, sign thread on RS.

Holy fuck. SB Oak Street Bridge has some ENORMOUS potholes. It's freakin ridiculous, cars have to come to an almost complete stop to get over them. There's like 5 or 6 all on one side SB. Is this a result of the plows or what the hell is causing these

I think the repeated process of melting snow, water getting into cracks and freezing is what causes potholes. And a bridge deck is especially vulnerable because it has no insulation from beneath (unlike a regular road).

Too tired to post these up last night. But it all happened yesterday

Going up royal oak

Highway 1 accident at coquitlam. Wife told me the truck on the tow truck is either a cop suv or a RCMP suv.

After portman bridge.

Rav 4 hit the fence.

thumper 01-01-2017 02:40 PM

this was the accident involving the rcmp hwy patrol last night:

Driving isn't all that bad here in north Van but holy fuck, walking is treacherous. I made it from the peak of a foot bridge to the bottom without taking a single step. Just grabbed the railing and slid.

Hope everyone had a great new years and got home safe!

Roads weren't so bad when I left for my friends place by Brentwood at 9PM, luckily

I'm so glad I spent a grand total of ten minutes to shovel the slush off the sidewalk and apply some salt last night. Today, my neighbours were spending hours trying to get ice off their sidewalks. One neighbour, after three hours got half his sidewalks done. The power of ice melt. Godwin would have been proud of me. I timed it well. My sidewalk is bone dry.

toehook 01-01-2017 04:56 PM

^ ah dang it, I should of done what MG1 did last night but stayed indoors. Now our driveway is an ice rink. :ohgodwhy:

Ditto i spent the time last night shoveling my sidewalks, walking paths around house, driveway, and part of the alley and spent about an hour doing so. Easily would have taken me twice the time today, fuck new years.

pastarocket 01-01-2017 05:17 PM

Snow is causing power outages. Power just went out in my area of east Van. Thank goodness RS is still up. LUL

Yep. My g/f thought i was nuts shoveling @ 9 o'clock at night.

Nlkko 01-01-2017 06:38 PM

Unsalted walkways like alley etc. are so slippery with ice everywhere. They're basically skating rinks. Snow was better.

whitev70r 01-01-2017 06:43 PM

I'm nominating my neighbour for the Idiot of the Year award ... saw him using his garden hose to melt the ice/snow off his sidewalk. :speechless:

If you still have day off tomorrow, come on by around my place, bring your skates for a free outdoor public rink.

MG1 01-01-2017 06:47 PM

Yeah, my backyard neighbour always shovels the alley because his triple car garage is on a slope and if it ain't cleared up, he's basically screwed. Well, he was not home last night and it was left as is. He was out there all morning and half way into the afternoon today when he just gave up.

His driveway is just off a bit from mine, so I always come home to a nicely shovelled alley way. I did shovel as much as I could for him last night, but didn't salt the alley way. My driveway is relatively flat, so I'm not worried. Next time, I will be more diligent and do a better job. My neighbours are gold. We all look out for one another. I let him down last night........... never again!

Wow........... WOW....... W O W !!!!!!

At least use a torch and then salt, lol. Actually, a torch won't help much unless you have one of them thingamajigs Mission Raceway has, Gulolol.

jeedee 01-01-2017 08:20 PM

inside streets are a damn icerink :heckno:

Ch28 01-01-2017 10:54 PM

Did a nice drift from the side street into the alley tonight and I was only going 10 km :lol

Bouncing Bettys 01-02-2017 12:46 AM

Driving home from the ferry tonight I was getting pretty annoyed having to dodge all the ice missiles from people who didn't clear the snow off their cars before heading out.

godwin 01-02-2017 03:52 AM

or install a heat pump home heating system.. I noticed that at quite a few renoed houses in the burbs.. I guess it make more sense than the west side.

Basicaly they drill holes underneath the driveway to pump water to heat / cool the house.. the added advantage is no frozen driveway!! (you still need to clear the side walks).

Now Amazon seems to think I need a snow thrower!:lawl: I never know there are track driven snowblowers!!
